Definitely not true. Even 98% positive is a pretty bad seller rating on Amazon, since most people who have an unpleasant experience are not able to leave bad reviews. This seller has below 90%.
According to the reviews this seller regularly doesn't fulfill their orders and frequently sends incorrect products by accident. There are innocent mistakes, and there are "mistakes" that are part of a business plan involving contempt for other people.
Vague feelings of dislike for people in other countries isn't a very good reason to excuse fraudsters in the US.

For anyone who hasn't cancelled yet and doesn't want to support shady seller practices, click "Report questionable activity" at the bottom of the cancellation request email, and there is an option to report sellers asking to cancel an order an order they couldn't fulfill.
Their product page states that they'll have this jigsaw stocked on January 28th, 2021. Waiting a week before shipping isn't a large sacrifice but we all got cancellation emails anyway...
I'm with the group holding out - If I receive a response to my email (to them) about waiting a week to ship I'll post it.
edit - Nevermind, I think this 'restock' date is based on Amazon selling it. Sorry!

It's a price mistake. Don't be a nasty guy and try to hurt a small American business seller trying to make an honest living and not take a significant loss due to an innocent mistake. You bought, he cancelled in a very reasonable timeframe, no personal information was transmitted, no harm done. Move on in life.
I'm wondering same thing. If we keep order open are they obligated to fill the order?
No. You gain nothing by not requesting cancellation. It'll hurt their metrics, but they'll cancel your order regardless. You have nothing to gain by holding out and hurting them. Be a good Samaritan, do your good deed of the day for a small business, and request the cancellation like they asked.

They didn't state it as a price mistake. They said the couldn't fulfill it. Perhaps they should have been honest.

Their practice of asking customer to cancel is explicitly listed by Amazon as a problem.
The Jigsaw is free if you buy the battery set. The receipt itemizes the items and the battery set comes out to $94.80 and the Jigsaw $84.20. You can return either item for the indicated amount. So, if you're already in the Makita universe and don't need the batteries, you can return them for $94.80 and you're left with an $84.20 Jigsaw.
Even if you don't return the batteries, it's a hell of a deal. Here is the same Jigsaw set bundled with lesser batteries for $379:

Also wondering this. I don't think they'd be obliged to fill the order but their Amazon seller account would probably take a significant ratings hit if they cancelled dozens (or more) orders.
That said, I will not be cancelling the order from my side -- if they do not want to honor their posted prices, they _should_ pay for that action by receiving a lower Amazon seller rating.
Amazon will never include the negative ratings for an issue like this.... I don't even bother leaving reviews, positive or negative, nor answer any questions for any purchases because of that very reason.

So I've seen four too good to be true deals in the past 3 weeks:
1. Tooltopia Packout Free Dolly Deal
2. Ebay Gear Wrench Socket set Deal
3. Home Depot Framing Nailer, Hammer Drill, Impact Driver Combo Kit Deal
4. This current deal
Only one of those came through. Should we change the saying to "Too good to be true, unless it's Home Depot"?

just Not prime, third party seller. A bit worried about return if anything goes wrong.

I don't buy the "honest" part in your comment.
