So here's two of my personal experiences, and reason why i do not shop newegg.
1) MSI RX580 - I do PC building as a local hobby for my friends family, and referrals. When it comes to friends and family, i make little and nothing (everyone's gotta eat, friends buy me lunch, family i charge nothing of course). Anywho... onto the story... bought an entire setup for a friend, paid about $1200 in parts from Newegg, only to find out the video card was broken. Okay, RMA! It's covered under their return policy, right?.... WRONG!!!!
On their product sales page, it was posted as returnable/exchangable, on their help page... same thing... welll guess what? They didn't want to honor it.... Like I said, i spent the better half of a week's worth of phone calls, chats, and emails with them... i hit'em on all three fronts in case i get brushed off by somebody. NOPE! They didn't want to honor it, even though the video card was DoA. It wasn't technically dead... but it bluescreened on just about every PC i tested it on, so it was considered DoA to me.
Apparently the reason why they didn't want to honor this, from what i believe, is because this VC is known (with the minimal amount of reviews it got) to have issues. I did not realize this, as it was an "on sale" type item.... Either way, i had to go to MSI, and they also were being jerks about it, as i explained the situation, and explained how the item was DoA, they made me pay for shipping to them. This not only irked me... but the swapped video card was faulty as freaking well.... just not as bad... it will bluescreen when you use it to 100% for too long (aka playing games for more than an hr). My friend has accepted this issue, and on his next upgrade, i'll be crediting him $50 on my half for trusting Newegg (once again, i got paid NOTHING for this build practically, and i ended up getting jipped at the end for being an honest person).
Mind you this is money out of my pocket, as i don't make $ of these things... it's to help friends and family, and referrals (like i mentioned).
2) Asus motherboard - This is a 2nd build i had going on, a couple months after... i figured i'd give newegg one more chance.... NOPE! SAME DEAL! I did not bother to even waste time, i also did not check their return policy on mobos, but needless to say, it said EXCHANGABLE ONLY on their product page. Asus saw this as wrong... i did not get any testing done as i didn't have a 2nd CPU to test with.... So i sent it back, Asus had accepted it was a faulty mobo through their testing, charged me $0 for shipping, as they said if it was NOT faulty, they would charge me shipping both ways (shoutout for A1 customer service IMO).
LONG STORY SHORT - I will never buy from Newegg again. Nor have i ever since the last not ONE, but TWO ordeals.... they lost a long standing customer that has poured thousands into their account over the years.
P.S. A couple months after, i realized that you can call these claims to your credit card company and they'll take a bite out of crime on your behalf.... but that wasn't until a few months after... It's done and over with now, so I just take it as a lesson learned.
