These leaks apparently....I think I'll just stick with fans. If a fan fails it'll stop and my computer will shutdown automatically. If a liquid cooler fails...it's taking the whole rig with it.
I've had Enermax AIO for 2 years and no issues
I think he meant due to leaking which is a possibility depending on what fluid they run in the system. I ran an AIO water cooler for nearly 7 years 24/7 with no issues so like the Walmart deals on here YMMV. I wouldn't worry too much about leaking, but it isn't impossible that it would happen.

I got an Enermax Liquicool II in my case for about a year now and it work fine. Replaced an Anter Kuhler AIO that leaked (didn't cause mobo damage). Seems to be working fine, very quiet compared to an air cooled setup.

Not worth potential ruining your rig.

big tower heatsink = single point of failure(graceful)

water = big pile of failure points(catastrophic)nod

Thanks for posting!! Ordered one for my next build. Love water cooled stuff - the cpu fans have been too loud for me and after switching my system is so much quieter! I won't go back to reg cpu fans. It would be nice to see the GPU cards start using water cooled tech.

false, motherboards can be set to warn on temp and utilities like Core Temp can also.
CPUs also throttle these days. you'd only lose your rig if you didn't know what you were doing.

You don't understand how uncontrolled liquid inside a PC case would potentially kill the entire system?

Is this quieter comparing to the fan?

My 8 year old file server had a rear exhaust fan die sometime in the past 5 years and the server is still running without issues.

I've wanted to try water cooling for a while but haven't yet just because of these reasons.

edit: I'm still interested in water cooling for my gaming rig which isn't 24/7, as long as the price and product are good. and my comparison is also off since we're talking about cpu cooling, lol.

I paid $150 for an Enermax Liqui TR4 AIO 3.5yrs ago and it stopped properly cooling after a year. After two years, I opened it up and the gunk inside was the worst **** ever. I put it back together but the pump started making a horrible rattling noise. Got a Noctua fan instead.
Never again for me. My previous machine also used an AIO, on that one the pump died after 2 years.

Millions of people use liquid coolers, including myself.

However Gamers Nexus recommended that people stay away from enermax due to the conductive surface not being even.

Listen, if you're needing something cheap, get it, and it'll probably work fine, but if you start OC'ing, or you run a hot CPU, you'll end up having your system throttle itself constantly and you're wasting your time.

Just get yourself a high end air cooler. The water on these small aio just act as a large heat sink/reservoir. If the small fan can't remove the heat quickly enough, the water temp keeps rising. As the delta T between the CPU and the water gets smaller and smaller, the efficiency of heat removal from the CPU actually gets worse and worse. I used to run an AIO before switching to a high end air cooler. There was also a constant pump whine that was very annoying.

Can any of these units accept a non-conductive coolant? That's one way to avoid frying your components if the cooler springs a leak.

I just bought the Dell XPS 8940 desktop. Will the 120mm version fit in that?

I am doing a new build for myself.

I dont overclock. Will 2 front 140"mm and 2 top 140"mm do the job along with Air CPU cooler?
