Slickdeals has a huge problem with the comment upvote system.

The comment by JohnUSA full of misinformation, yet it's the highest upvoted comment. Why/how is this happening?

It's shown as the featured/helpful comment, and people think the information is correct, then thumbs it up. The issue here is the information is false.

Can't even downvote or report the comment on the mobile app, only upvote or reply.

What's the misinformation?

First part: the user can definitely disable wifi AND keep bluetooth on, allowing them to continue using the mouse via bluetooth. There are at least two replying comments informing said user of this. Said user found out they were wrong, replied, but as we can see, hasn't edited their original comment yet. So their misinformed comment is still featured at the top (#1), with at least 16 thumbs up currently.

The second part of their post: said user states that Logitech must "surely be dumb" for button the device switching button at the top of the mouse. I attached an annotated image of the mouse, and as you can see, the buttons are large and well separated imo.

It's convenient to not have to toggle a switch on the bottom of the mouse to switch devices. No, I'm not a shill for Logitech.

So what's wrong here? In summary, someone who is misinformed:
Part 1: Appears to not know the difference between airplane mode, and individual wifi and bluetooth toggles. Then types the misinformation into a comment, which then gets upvoted into a featured comment by misinformed people thinking said misinformation it's helpful.

Part 2: Has an opinion which imo hasn't been thought out enough. Opinions are fine, but said opinion was lumped in with misinformation, getting upvoted, then being a featured comment, and that's the first thing someone sees upon opening the deal.

Relying on misinformed users to go back and edit their comments is not ideal.

This is dangerous behavior @Slickdeals. I've been on SD since like 2009 or whatever, and well, this feature is just bad.

I hope someone at Slickdeals is listening, because this exact issue seems to happen on enough threads that I'm now typing this essay up.

PS: I have to log in to the desktop site to report a comment since it's not available on mobile. I get that it's hard to keep desktop and mobile in feature parity, but not being able to at least "undo" a misinformed comment on mobile either by downvoting or reporting? Come on team.

thanks.

Yep, they do. Bought one for $19.99 the last time it was on sale a couple months ago and still saw them on the shelf when I went to my warehouse a couple days ago.

A very important spec is missing here, this wireless mouse can connect with BOTH Bluetooth AND with the provided Logitech USB receiver.
I have this mouse and I like it a lot. I bought it at my local Costco store when it was on sale for $20 plus sales tax, check your local store and you may avoid paying the S&H.
I use the Bluetooth connection as it frees an important USB slot on my laptop.
One disadvantage doing this is that when I disconnect my WiFi connection to disable my Internet it also disconnects my Bluetooth, so I cannot use this mouse, I am then forced to use my laptop's touchpad.
Very good and recommended mouse, get it at this bargain $20 price.
PS: The only disadvantage this mouse has is that the #3 button (closest to your wrist) that controls the 3-PC connections is right next to the middle Back button, I sometimes press this button accidentally.
Logitech should have been a lot smarter and placed this 3-PC controlling button at the bottom of the mouse, away for being pushed erroneously. Logitech is surely dumb.
Believe it or not, Logitech make another model with the 3 controlling button at the bottom of the mouse lol. It is more expensive and larger

What are you doing to disconnect WiFi? If you're using Windows airplane mode feature, that will disable both WiFi and Bluetooth.

If you're turning off only WiFi, that sounds like a Bluetooth/WiFi driver bug. The Bluetooth module is on the WiFi module, and they share the same antennas. Toggling one should not affect the other. It doesn't on my other Bluetooth/USB mouse. I just tried it and it continues working fine in Bluetooth mode (haven't had a chance to try out the new mouse yet). But I wouldn't be surprised if a vendor's botched driver caused toggling one to affect the other.

I've noticed that Bluetooth mouse connections in general tend to be a lot flakier than a USB dongle. Especially after long periods of inactivity (like when you take your hand off the mouse to type a lot of text). The Bluetooth goes into power save mode, and it can take a second to wake up and re-sync with the mouse when you move it. It's why I've been avoiding Bluetooth-only mice, and sticking with combo Bluetooth/USB mice like this one. If something I'm doing causes the Bluetooth disconnects to become really annoying, I can always pop out the USB adapter and plug it in (there's a storage slot for it next to the battery compartment).

Not a fan of the rubbery coating on this mouse. I can see it turning sticky after awhile just like my other mice made of this material. Wish they had just used smooth plastic.

Yes, i saw this mouse for sale in warehouse yesterday. The sale will last till 2/22/2021. Its $29.99 - $10 = $19.99 plus tax in warehouse now.
Im debating if I should get this mouse from Costco, OR should I get the Logitech MX Master 2S for $49.99 plus tax? Any advise? Thanks.

You are right that I am using Airplane Mode for speed and simplicity.
When I disconnect only my WiFi the Bluetooth and this mouse connectivity still work properly, so this method works just right.
I have had this Pro model for about 2 months and I have not yet experienced any issues with the Bluetooth connection....it has been very reliable.

I have both. If you like a little bigger mouse (less pricey) go with Costco one. If you want smaller and works on glass go with master 2S. I prefer the size of Costco mouse but 2s works so well on glass desk it becomes my primary mouse.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank thlucas

I just purchased one today at Costco in Omaha NE (120th & Dodge location). They had 2 1/2 sleeves of them left at the 19.99 sale price (discounted at register). I like the mouse - thinking about picking up a second one as a spare.

I forgot to mention ... it has "M720" stamped on the bottom. It uses 1 "AA" size battery for power (battery included). Also note that the USB dongle is stored under the battery cover. I mention this as at first I thought it did not come with a dongle, until I removed the battery cover and there it was in its own little storage area.

Hope it helps!

About how good is this on your wrist? I have a current mouse that just tears my wrist apart. I'm on a computer for about 7 hours a day.

MX keys ($100ish) or Logitech K375s ($30ish).

I have used both , both are good.

I currency sue MX keys due to separate buttons for device switching and back-lighting...
