I have this XM4 and the Bose 700. Sound and ANC are about the same for me, with XM4 barely edging out the 700 in terms of ANC. Comfort wise, Bose 700 is the winner for me. After a few hours of wearing the XM4, the ears would get uncomfortably warm that I have to take it off - this is due to the XM4's design as I feel like it sits on my ears instead of cupping my ears like the 700.

The only downside for the 700 is its battery life at rated at 20 hour compared to XM4's 30 hours. I find myself charging the 700 more often. Nonetheless, the difference in comfort makes it a fine trade-off for me.

I've been using the 700 ever since I got it and haven't touched the XM4 at all, as the 700's ANC/sound work fine for me with great comfort to boost. I feel like I will most likely sell the XM4 and stick with the 700 going forward.

I got a refurb Bose 700 through Bose's eBay store for $225 before tax with a 20% off coupon. It looks and feels brand new. I had the same experience buying a refurb QC35ii on Bose's eBay store as well so I recommend this route.

Same price at Best Buy, Walmart, Target, etc. Looks like a general Sony promotion.

Might seem counter-intuitive, but go into the app and turn off ANC and sound control off completely. You'll notice the muddy-ness is removed and you'll clearly notice the advantage in sound over the Bose 700. From there you can bump up the clear bass slightly and a tad in the high Hz end. To me, the Sony had the more 'clear' sound while the Bose 700 had that studio sound (smaller sound-stage and sound like from a studio room). The Bose 700 to me, made orchestral pieces sound less lively and live. I noticed the saxophone having the most advantage on the Sony's with livelyness.

Go with the Bose 700 if in noisy environments. XM4 if in relatively quiet areas thus. Bose wins in comfort which is the result of having angled dust filters instead of touching your ears.

Target was better deal during BF because it had an extra 10% off or something like that on electronics which suppose to not apply but did.

I have these.
The microphone quality is bad, and no APT-X, otherwise great headphones

I have the XM2 for a while now. Listened to the XM4 in best buy, connected my phone to them. Nothing special at all compared to XM2, I thought the sound is actually worse then the xm2.
Waiting for the good reviews on Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro. I have all of their buds and by far the Galaxy Beans sound better than XM4 but the ANC is much better in Sony. So for a plane flight - sony. For everything else - galaxy beans

Still have XM2 (did change a battery, though), still works, still happy.

I've had these since November of last year and when it gets to < 40% battery life left you start hearing a hissing noise with NC enabled. Turning off NC or fully recharging the headphones works. Otherwise, when you play audio I don't notice the hiss. Too lazy to want to go through the process of returning and exchanging or what not.
