I have this exact gray chair from Staples (though thankfully mine doesn't have the goofy branding on the headrest), purchased before Covid, so I've had it more than a year using it 8+ hours daily as a computer desk work chair. I definitely recommend for the price and so far it's held together well. The arm & butt wrests have not started fraying or anything yet. The only thing that's "worn" is it wobbles and creaks a bit, but other than that has held up to daily use. The butt padding is very thin, but is contoured correctly, so I don't find it uncomfortable.
As someone who's been a computer nerd and used a desk chair for most of my life I've found that all chairs with regular use tend to wear out or fray after a year or so and I tend to have to replace mine every couple years. A few years back a nice $350 leather Lazy-boy from Costco went on sale and I bought it thinking "Okay I'm going to finally get a nice chair that will last." Well that didn't happen, the leather started fraying after a year so I returned it and didn't lose a minutes sleep about it. Unless you buy a $500+ professional office chair like we have at our office then the cheaper ones like this may get you a couple years with daily use and again so far this one has held up fine. My daughter also has the blue one as she liked mine and I told her when it went on sale some 6 months back and hers has held up fine as well
In the past year plus I've seen this chair go on sale at around this price a couple times, if I needed one again I'd re-purchase it
I just went randomly looking at chairs at Staples this weekend after my 12 year one has been getting flatter and harder to sit on. I was not overly impressed with this - good support for arms and back but not comfortable to sit on. It was one I sat on and right away stood back up without considering further.
Anyone used one of these? Obviously isn't gonna be incredible quality but I'm in the market for an inexpensive gaming chair. Wondering if this one is worth the low price or if there's something else affordable I should aspire to.
I have it. It's decently comfortable but just buy a real back support chair probably in a similar price range. Any "gaming" chair means probably bad back support which is the point of a char right?
i needed a chair so i just bought this, but serious question here. what makes a gaming chair a gaming chair?
Serious answer: AFAIK the racing stripes look and the hole in the back. If you want it to look less "gamey" then get the black & grey one. If you want the bling go for one of the other colors. I personally don't get the hole in the back although that seems to be a standard for gaming chairs (neck & back air vent I think???) but in the end I think it's all just for looks really
I don't really care if it's a gaming chair vs. an office chair or whatever, I've just been told that gaming chairs typically reach a decent quality at a lower price point than those branded as office chairs.
no they cant. they're not even designed properly, they're appealing to the younger "gamer" crowd with fancy colors and designs rather than what's actually good for you to sit on.
the quality is terrible and usually just the same chinese chair with different colors for each company that's selling them.
Bought it as a cheap chair. It should meet my expectations. Will be used by wife/kids and not by me. These kinds of chairs aren't made for big and tall guys unfortunately.
Like others have said, bonded leather is crap, my roommate had one (not this specific chair) but bits of the fake leather ended up all over my house as time went on.
