If you need any reasons, this one does fold up for storage and takes very little space. Plus you've got enough batteries to do as much as you need, and if you've got 2 chargers you can probably go indefinitely with your battery fleet. I paid $279 2 years ago for the refurb and was very happy with my purchase. I've never owned a gas one, but most take up a lot more space than this, not sure about your model. It won't do as well in deep wet snow as a gas one, but I find it easy to stay on top of. It's quiet enough to run at 9 or 10 pm to avoid being buried when you wake up in the morning. I live in Reno and we can get some very wet sierra cement on occasion. This thing gets tough as hell to use at around a 10-12 inches of wet snow. If it's dry, it's manageable to around the same depth, but it's much harder to push when it's wet.

The key is to spray a lubricant like this on and around the auger and in the chute. It will rarely get clogged. http://www.performancelubricantsu...ellent.php

I have heard that the car wax sprays work too, just never tried it.

I live in Michigan and own this and a big ass two stage Costco snowblower.

I wanted something smaller to handle lower snow levels and the walkway leading up to the house as 'The beast' 2 stage was overkill in lower snow situations and difficult to turn/manage for my front door walkways.

This thing is amazing for its size.

My first use was this year during a wet, slushy snowfall. Yes, it clogged a bit but my god was I impressed.

Yesterday we got two bouts of 3-6 inches. Yes, it doesn't throw snow as far as a gas one but it's really good at what it does and it doesn't matter.

Wifey lives this thing and I have only got to use it once this season cuz she keeps hogging it. LOL

Never had battery problems with the 5amp batteries and I have a long driveway and walkways in front of my house.

I contemplated getting a spare 7.5amp battery (I have the mower and one 7.5 already) to use in this but honestly...the two 5amps do so well that it would be a waste of money.

So, if you, like me, already have a few EGO Tools this is a no brained for a tool only. Especially if you have 2 7.5 or 5 amp batteries already.

I got the last battery included one from the Home Depot Ego blowout earlier this year and it's been very impressive this far.

So much so that I fear unless there is a major polar vortex in Michigan this year, I might not ever use 'The Beast' two stage gas blower this year.

So in summary. If you are wondering if it's any good. It is and has been just fine in a Midwestern winter.

Seems like a great price. I already have 2x 7.5ah, 1x 5ah and 2x 2.5ah ego batteries so I dont really need any more. Im still using a garbage picked Craftsman 2 stoke that doesnt have a pull cord but does have working electric start. Just hard to spend money when I have something that sort of works. But then I wouldnt have to worry about mixing gas anymore...

A 5 and a 2.5 battery probably aren't enough for this? I haven't wanted to spring for the battery included model because I don't need them for yard work on my small lot. Of course it's not cost effective to buy the batteries stand alone either.

specifications say that it requires a 4 mAh battery or above

I have an average two car driveway, and i only use 2.5 batteries as a backup. I would recommend two 5 ah batteries for best operation.

It is not the most powerful (the throw distance is measly), but we still use it more often than our gas Ariens. It is easy to maneuver, has a reliable push button start, and I don't have to smell like gas fumes.

I've had a small gas snow thrower for a few years. Sadly central Ohio doesn't get snow like it used to. I really miss it.

Listing says batteries and charger are included but description on site says it's tool only (or maybe that's the kit price?)

Same warranty as a new one (according to the Acme website at least). Can't beat that.

Is the snow blower plus battery a good deal at $450?

Then it also says 1 year warranty. So not too sure what to believe.

I've been waiting on the midrange steel auger model. I've had lots of great luck with Home Depots refurbished models so I'll give this a go. This will serve great in most snow occasions! Perhaps in the next year or so they will drop the steel auger or the two stage model.

Great find, OP!

Soooo....I bought the blower with the two batteries but now I feel like I overpaid. Seems everyone is commenting on just the base tool being a good price. Did I mess up?!?!
