I have heard that the car wax sprays work too, just never tried it.
I wanted something smaller to handle lower snow levels and the walkway leading up to the house as 'The beast' 2 stage was overkill in lower snow situations and difficult to turn/manage for my front door walkways.
This thing is amazing for its size.
My first use was this year during a wet, slushy snowfall. Yes, it clogged a bit but my god was I impressed.
Yesterday we got two bouts of 3-6 inches. Yes, it doesn't throw snow as far as a gas one but it's really good at what it does and it doesn't matter.
Wifey lives this thing and I have only got to use it once this season cuz she keeps hogging it. LOL
Never had battery problems with the 5amp batteries and I have a long driveway and walkways in front of my house.
I contemplated getting a spare 7.5amp battery (I have the mower and one 7.5 already) to use in this but honestly...the two 5amps do so well that it would be a waste of money.
So, if you, like me, already have a few EGO Tools this is a no brained for a tool only. Especially if you have 2 7.5 or 5 amp batteries already.
I got the last battery included one from the Home Depot Ego blowout earlier this year and it's been very impressive this far.
So much so that I fear unless there is a major polar vortex in Michigan this year, I might not ever use 'The Beast' two stage gas blower this year.
So in summary. If you are wondering if it's any good. It is and has been just fine in a Midwestern winter.

Like buying a 2 WD and putting a 4 inch lift kit in it
It is not the most powerful (the throw distance is measly), but we still use it more often than our gas Ariens. It is easy to maneuver, has a reliable push button start, and I don't have to smell like gas fumes.
Single or dual stage? Dual stage is great if you need it and want to pay for it ($1200 for the Ego two stage, I believe), but this single stage has worked for me at a much lower price.

While this would probably be ok for moderate use, I wouldn't use it because of having to rely on batteries.
I just spent upwards of 6 hours removing snow today and the same yesterday.
If I had to rely on batteries I'm sure I would still be at it.
To me it would be like

One huge plus about battery powered tools is much LESS worry. All my previous gas-powered tools I'd be fixing every other use. When I need them most they are never working lol. Battery is just 1. Push button 2. Go. We started with a 40-volt ryobi leaf blower @ work for cleaning out gutters and after-job cleanup. My two co-workers immediately went out and got one for themselves and I got a second for home.
Absolutely love my 18" Ego chainsaw that people with Stihls and Husqvarnas are impressed by and several end up going out to get one. I cut a truckload of 24" Oak or Ash on 1 battery. I don't have to wear ear protection because they are so quiet (though I still do), and only have to put in bar/chain oil. I don't throw out my arm pull-starting or worse have to diagnose what's wrong when it doesn't start or just go home defeated. We use a Ego push lawn mower on our 1 acre lot. We have to use 2 batteries, but it's quiet; fumeless; no failing pull-start; no mixing/spilling gas...

I use all Dewalt 20 and 60 Volt power tools now. with the exception of a air compressor. But I've never been happy with a oil less compressor.
My 60 Volt do just fine.
