Thus begins the adventure of trying to find and compare RTX 3000 series mobile wattage.

Just so everyone knows if they don't already, NVIDIA removed any requirements for laptop makers to label lower powered mobile GPU's as "Max-Q" to indicate the design emphasis is on power efficiency and noise rather than straight performance. The only way we're going to be able to compare one 3000 series GPU to another is if the laptop makers grace us by telling us the wattage they're pumping thru the GPU. In extreme cases, you could end up with severely underpowered 3070 mobile GPU's being outperformed by high powered 3060's. Gonna be fun.

That, and the i7 CPU is 4 cores, 8 threads which is comparable to the Zen U series. The 5900HS uses 8 cores and 16 threads.

A close look and I see two microphones above the screen...what is wrong with them that they didn't implement a webcam (which was one of the main gripes about their G14 predecessor)?

At least the chassis and keys are black this time instead of silver!

Probably not so much that it is or isn't a deal (since it's not even for sale yet), but more about what it is -- next gen Ryzen with top GPU and other specs.

It IS a really nice PC...

I think the TUF perform worse in some games then last years 2070. I think they are limiting this 3070 to 80w. Saw a video by hardware cunucks explaining the bench's.

Warning to 30 series mobile gpus they dont all perform at the same level. for example 3070 in a Aorus may cost more and actually perform better than a TUF. watch review per device.

FYI I had an option to apply a 10% off coupon as a 'birthday month' reward during checkout for this pre-order. I think it was relating to signing up for MyRewards...I must've used a fake birthday since mine actually isn't for 2 months. Not sure if it is too late to sign up and get the coupon in Jan., but it did successfully take $180 off the price, which already seemed like a great deal for the specs.

I'm a bit nervous about ordering this since the G14 and G15 had gone on sale numerous times, including shortly after their release...but the extra 10% make me feel like I'm less likely to see a better sale price in the near future. Although who knows for sure, as competition in the laptop space does seem to be heating up. A bit disappointed about it having no webcam, though. Not something I'd use often, but certainly more convenient than having to use an external one...

Guess I can always cancel it or return it unopened if I have buyer's remorse.
