Is this the latest basic/budget line, I really can't keep track of samsung model pricing, I thought they would make LCD ones and OLED ones but now it look like even within these they have different lines.

I wound up ordering the 82" for $1499. Not nearly as good of a deal as the 75" for $979, but I have had 1080p forever and really needed to upgrade. Not pleased that Costco is usually OOS for shipping in CT on their best deals, but I adjust. I think I have three months to return it if they come out with a better deal...

Thanks, I didn't think they still made 60hz panels especially these huge ones, right?
I guess next thing is viewing angle, right, followed by contrast ratio how black blacks are..

The RU8000 was the highest LCD model previously. I'm guessing the RU9000 is now the highest LED model before you get into the QLED lines (Q6/ Q7/ Q8/ Q9). The LED series also go by numbers, e.g., 6XXX series is the truly budget line, the7XXX series is a slightly better budget TV, and the 8XXX is/was top of line for the LED. I personally wouldn't recommend anything below an 8000 series; Samsung really cheaps out on the truly budget lines - they aren't responsive, picture quality is meh).

I have the 75" 2018 8000 series for $1200 and like it a lot. The TV looks very good for a non-QLED/ OLED TV, the Samsung Tizen OS is quick and responsive, and the screen is massive viewing at ~9 feet away. TBH, it was too big so I moved the TV to another room where I'm sitting ~14 feet away, and it's perfect. I've since bought a 55" Q8 for the smaller room.

The one downside with Samsung TVs (no matter what version) is the stupid ads they force on you, and you can't disable them. I've unconsciously blocked them out and skip over them, so it doesn't bother me that much, but I do think it's annoying that there's bloatware.

For <$1000, this does seem like a very good deal for a 75" high quality LCD. BUT, I'd recommend you to consider getting a TCL R6/R8 or Hisense H8/H9 for around this price though. Those TVs have much better quality (e.g., local dimming, QLED), and comparable to the Samsung Q7 or Q8.

Great info, thanks, repped.
We recently bought Hisense 50" for one of our friends kid, they didn't want to spend more than $350 and they wanted 48-52" and the picture quality is actually great, my only complain is the viewing angle and very annoying contrast change from scene to scene in some inputs or apps, it's weird, I think it's 4k or dolby vision thing? It mostly happens on Disney+.

Anyway, back to me, I've been using the same Sony TV for 12+ yrs, it's one of their better TV's at the time 52" got for $2k at Circuit City and when I go check out TVs at Target, Best Buy, I realize my TV still has amazing colors, and unimaginable viewing angle. It's truly like looking through a window, while most TVs on display are horribly over saturated or just "unreal" picture. I've only seen some LG and maybe Sony TVs, and perhaps some Vizio ones at Costco that looked really good, but those were probably OLED? They were $2500-$3k.

Did you try using whole-home ad blockers to disable ads? Like pihole or pfsense?

This is my first Samsung TV, I bought on Thanksgiving Deal in November 2020 from Costco and last week it stop working no picture and TV is not turning on at all. After doing some research on the net and talking to Samsung Support they have confirmed seems to be mother board issue and going to send the technician to repair it. Afterwards I also talk to Costco Support and they are going replace it with totally new unit which should arrive tomorrow. So based on my experience not sure about the quality and only reason to keeping it as it's from Costco and comes with 5 years warranty.
