Thx OP for posting.
Good deal on service, but a real D move on Discovery Communications part to shift a bunch of shows (mid season etc) from traditional providers to only D+.
Not an issue for me personally, but DC basically gave the finger to older folks or persons who might not use or need (afford) HSI and are in some way stuck with traditional providers (contracts, tv through rental complexes, data limited phones, etc). Even relentlessly advertising - pay up or else your show, will be taken...
Nearly all other preexisting providers went a different route, providing older content, current, and new via streaming, instead of trying to force customers to add yet another service by discontinuing content.
Seems like it will be an improvement, just disagree with DC on the direction they took...

If you look on the page there is a link for "gifting terms and conditions" it says the code never expires.

I highly recommend The Colony for anyone who is into survival shows. It can be a bit cheesy, but there's really good, hopefully never useful info (e.g., how to build a gasifier) in there.
