1. Horrible customer service. The owner, Ken, seems to just run everything himself. He is not cordial, or prompt in his responses (often had to email 2-3x before a response). He falsely advertised a fingerprint reader in my current laptop, and when I said it doesn't have one, his response was essentially, "oops, typo."
2. It took over a month to get my computer when there were not parts shortages. Expect to wait a while even once this computer becomes available.
3. I tried using the cash discount and paying by CC last time. The order went through, but Ken contacted me asking, "so you're going to send me a wire transfer or money order?" even though I had clearly already paid, and forced me to cancel my order and re-order.
Edit: This is all to say, while not the ABSOLUTE worst experience one could have, I'd be pretty hesitant to order from GenTech again.
Pros don't do this on a small scale basis for a reason. They do it on rigs with multiple GPUs per motherboard. They just care about yields, not the longevity/condition of the parts. If you're going to be using this laptop for personal use + maybe even some business, mining on it for the entirety of the time it's not in use otherwise maybe isn't the best idea...

Secondly...it's just a personal thing.....but I want "Mouse Buttons" on my keypad.
I know folks get by without them...
I know some folks always use an external mouse....
But when I'm using my laptop vs my desktop, I'm not usually in a convenient place to be using a mouse and I don't want to have to carry one....
Recently returned a laptop for that very reason....
I just did not like tapping the trackpad as a replacement.
Pros/Cons between two units? This is a gift for my brother who wants to play CoD and MSFlight Simulator.

Regarding desktop mining, I run a 3090 without issue 90% of the day and don't have any problems with it. I understand the fears, but I've done mining in the past with AMD/NVidia with cards I kept for years and no issue. The $8k in BTC/BCH earned from trading in LTC that was mined over 4-5 months years ago was worth the first foray into mining. IF ETH ever did jump in price to something crazy like $10k, a month and a half of mining would cover the laptop. If you just ran a miner while surfing the net or doing some other tasks that didn't require much from the card, there is some value there.

I wouldn't be worried about fans in the slightest - people have left them running at 100% for years with no issues. They're rated for like 50,000-100,000 hours of use, and in the worst case scenario, you can just replace them pretty cheaply.
The 3080 gpu core temp is even lower, literally 42C right now, because the fans are at 100% and it's thermal throttled by the memory chip temps. Putting some thermal pads on it this weekend, which everyone says completely solves the issue, so I envision no problems there either.
I agree a laptop is definitely much more questionable and I've never tried it, but this thing comes with the best thermal paste and pads applied for free, which is the biggest reason I'm buying this along with no tax tbh - liquid metal on the cpu and ICD on the gpu. With a few external fans and proper ventilation, I don't really foresee an issue with the power draw of the 3070 - even desktop wise, it maxes out mining hashrate at only 120-130 w, which is right about what a laptop 3070 max p can pull. There's literally no strain on the cpu or memory or anything else whatsoever, and so you're not even pulling any of the cpu max wattage, so while this thing is rated with a 230 watt psu with 45 watts for the cpu, this won't max it out, and be well within designed tolerances.
Guess we'll find out, though
