Save your money and get a mini 2, the improvements are worthwhile. I have an air 2 and love it but wish I could have saved $$ and gotten the mini 2 instead.

You like the Mini 2 more than the Mavic Air 2?

At 450 vs 850 I think saving $400 the mini 2 is worth it. I love my air 2 but have never had to rely on the obstacle avoidance feature. I'm sure the first time I do it'll pay for itself but that's really the only major difference between the two. *sure the camera is better on the air 2 but in real world its hard to tell the difference

i disagree. the ma2 is twice the drone m2 and 5 times better than mm1. i can agree the m2 is a nice solid step up from the mm1 but the ma2 is in a different class; it compares more closely to the m2p/m2z family.

being able to see the rc controls and see where i fly is important to me and the ma2 uses the smart controller but the mini drones are stuck with your mobile.

i just got the m2 so i have not had much fly time in the winter but i appears to be a slight improvement over the mm1 when it comes to wind. i sold my mm1 because it couldn't fly in the wind and since it's windy around here year round, mm1 was practically useless whereas the ma2 never had a problem with the wind...all summer long. so if the m2 can take on the wind, i'll give it props (no pun intended) otherwise, i'll sell it too. ma2 is a keeper.

I am eager for a drone for a while. But I do not really know how often do I need it. I do not want something to collect dust on the shelf. A lot of state park around my area does not allow drones.

Compared those two models. the difference is huge. It is really worth that $400 more.

You hit the nail on the head. The average user really won't care if the 4K shoots at 30 or 60 fps. Sure the A2 has more going for it in size, a few more features and stability in winds. However, the mini 2, has the same wind rating and has quite a good following from experienced users. The above reasons led me to the mini 2. For a casual user as myself, I'm impressed with the video quality and performance so far. Plus I can fly without FAA registration, and in other countries who's laws are similar to here without worry.

To be fair the faa registration is $5 and not much of a burden but it is another obstacle. Don't even get me started on other countries, such a headache.

When did the US start modeling their laws after Canada? You want to get really scared, look at Europe.
