Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria, it's a huge bank in Spain and lots of Latin America. However apparently the USA division is 100% independent and runs their own accounts. As pointed out above PNC purchased this USA division and will fold it in (BBVA will still exist globally)

This is the same bank that is the center of the Netflix show money heist. Based on the documentary there's no way I'll keep any money here.

My point is that if the US government can fraudulently claim this bonus is taxable, then the effort to acquire the bonus is tax deductible. Everyone should value themselves highly no matter their income. Taxing W2 and 1099 income is fraud and anyone that attempts to collect should be shot on sight.

Would just like to make a huge statement regarding BBVA and my personal experience. Make sure it's 1 deposit of $500 or more or it will not qualify.

Although I still use them, more like a terciary account, their claim of using any ATM without fees is not full explicit. Mostly usable at 7/11 gas stations without fees. As with any card, use Proper ATMs. This isn't the issue. I live in CA where there are a few branches I can use. I have always been able to use ATMs outside where there are no branches. However if you are traveling out of state, if you go to a non-BBVA ATM you CAN NOT deposit cash. You can ONLY withdraw. This may not be a huge deal breaker for many but it was for me. When having to deposit cash into your checking account via ATM becomes a nightmare. I haven't had those issues with any of my Credit Unions or Banks. Tried other compatible terminals with the same result, withdraw only. That was a huge gripe for me. As I no longer use it a primary acct it's an OK backup option. BBVA does offer a nice cash back option with their debit card which is cool but it is on niche services.
