thx op. how'd you find out about this? never got an email from chase.
Costco gas stations aren't coded as "wholesale clubs" so you won't get 5% for that but this offer will get you the discount.
Money is money. Also the true value of these Freedom cards is transferring the "cash back" to Ultimate Rewards points and redeeming them on your Sapphire Preferred (+25% redemption bonus) or Sapphire Reserved (+50% redemption bonus).
Edit: Since I was originally on mobile...
The TRUE value in Chase Ultimate Rewards is in their 1:1 transfer rates to their ~13 or so travel partners. The Chase Travel Portal is pretty good if you have the Sapphire Reserve and you get 1.5 cents per point. By transferring you can get 3 cents or more. Sometimes even more during promos or specials. Although if you can get around 2 cents per point you are doing just fine with Chase.

If anyone is interested in the best gas cash back card, join penfed credit union and find this: PenFed Platinum Cash Rewards Visa Card which offers unlimited 5% cash back on fuel, and 3% on groceries. https://www.penfed.org/credit-car...-signature
I stopped using Penfed when they depreciated all my points. Unless they changed back, you earn 5 points per dollar. Redemption is 6-7 points for each cent.
It worked on my card, but only by using the op link (thanks!!!). Doesn't show in the Chase app as an available reward I could activate, and also didn't show up as a way I was "earning" rewards either, but I screenshot the confirmation saying I'd earn 5% back.
Ssn obviously only if you are applying for the card.
Made the same mistake. Put the last 4 of my social in and it said I "wasn't eligible" for the offer. Looked again and saw it said last 4 of card. Once I put that in it activated it for me.
Why can't we find this within the app or site via chase.com? Hate the idea of navigating through that URL. Frustrating, and potentially scary. Maybe fraudulent???
