thx op. how'd you find out about this? never got an email from chase.
Costco gas stations aren't coded as "wholesale clubs" so you won't get 5% for that but this offer will get you the discount.
Money is money. Also the true value of these Freedom cards is transferring the "cash back" to Ultimate Rewards points and redeeming them on your Sapphire Preferred (+25% redemption bonus) or Sapphire Reserved (+50% redemption bonus).
Edit: Since I was originally on mobile...
The TRUE value in Chase Ultimate Rewards is in their 1:1 transfer rates to their ~13 or so travel partners. The Chase Travel Portal is pretty good if you have the Sapphire Reserve and you get 1.5 cents per point. By transferring you can get 3 cents or more. Sometimes even more during promos or specials. Although if you can get around 2 cents per point you are doing just fine with Chase.

if you can get the USAA Amex , they give 6% back everyday for gas.. doesn't work at Costco tho, since they only take Visa, but I use it with my Tmobile .10 a week and .05 cents for being a shell gold member and here In Idaho, Shell is not over priced like California..
Freedom Flex is mastercard, will it work in costco gas stations?
id like to know to. I have the card.
Also, I have the 5% activated but I don't see gas stations, mine only says wholesale, internet, cable, and phone services. AM i missing something?
Just a quick point, but I signed up with this last week on my Freedom Unlimited. Filled gas on Sunday and my statement closed yesterday. I only had one purchase, which was gas at Sams Club.
The breakout was normal 1.5% on purchase and remaining 3.5% bonus on gas, so total 5% for gas. I was hoping this promo would stack the 5% on top of usual cash back percentage but it doesn't seem so at least on the Unlimited Freedom card.. :-(
My $13.39 purchase at Sams Club resulted:
21 points (1.5%)
47 points (bonus on gas purchases)
68 points total, equates to 5% (tad more due to rounding)

The offer explicitly stated the adder/total CB would be 5% regardless of the card type used.

You mean put my notes of which CC to use at which store on my phone? I suppose I could do that but it's the same amount of work as writing it down on paper and putting it in my wallet. Every time I update it I have to transfer the new file to my share and then to my phone using a file explorer program. Then I have to open it with the file browser program. Or just pull out a piece of paper.
My point was the ever-changing categories makes it a pain to remember which CC to use at any time (regardless if I use paper notes or notes on a phone). Perhaps everyone else has better memory than I do and doesn't have this issue?
On my iPhone, I just created a table in Notes app and change out the categories for each card each quarter.

Costco does except Mastercard for online purchases.
Both will work for "gas" bonuses, but not "warehouse."

But we can use tmobile shell + 5% back right?
Coscto online accepts all the cards

Ooh, I like the sound of that. Used to do it in excel & print to keep in wallets but got lazy. Notepad is much more convenient! Thanks & repped!
