thx op. how'd you find out about this? never got an email from chase.
Costco gas stations aren't coded as "wholesale clubs" so you won't get 5% for that but this offer will get you the discount.
Money is money. Also the true value of these Freedom cards is transferring the "cash back" to Ultimate Rewards points and redeeming them on your Sapphire Preferred (+25% redemption bonus) or Sapphire Reserved (+50% redemption bonus).
Edit: Since I was originally on mobile...
The TRUE value in Chase Ultimate Rewards is in their 1:1 transfer rates to their ~13 or so travel partners. The Chase Travel Portal is pretty good if you have the Sapphire Reserve and you get 1.5 cents per point. By transferring you can get 3 cents or more. Sometimes even more during promos or specials. Although if you can get around 2 cents per point you are doing just fine with Chase.

I don't even drive much in normal times so I went with the GC deal. Get 10% off select gift cards, like The Home Depot® with chase freedom. I grabbed $100 with just my points.
Just go in store and grab a cash card. I usually get a $500-1000 one every time warehouses are included and use it at pumps save it for non-qualifying quarters in-store.
Why have I not thought to do this before?! Duh. Thanks!
On my iPhone, I just created a table in Notes app and change out the categories for each card each quarter.

Ooh, I like the sound of that. Used to do it in excel & print to keep in wallets but got lazy. Notepad is much more convenient! Thanks & repped!
Good suggestion. I know keeping "digital" notes on one's phone is do-able. I think I have a Notes app (or maybe it's something called Color Notes) as well as some text editors like Quick Edit on my phone. However, I almost never use it because I fat finger literally every word and it takes forever. The only feasible way is to create the text file on a PC where I can use a real keyboard and not make typos on every word, use a file app to transfer it to my phone over a network share, and then open it in one of these programs. I've found scribbling on a piece of paper and sticking it in my wallet (when I remember) is faster than the phone process.

I have a hard time with the digital notes too. I stick painter's tape with handwritten notes on each of my credit cards.
Just a quick point, but I signed up with this last week on my Freedom Unlimited. Filled gas on Sunday and my statement closed yesterday. I only had one purchase, which was gas at Sams Club.
The breakout was normal 1.5% on purchase and remaining 3.5% bonus on gas, so total 5% for gas. I was hoping this promo would stack the 5% on top of usual cash back percentage but it doesn't seem so at least on the Unlimited Freedom card.. :-(
My $13.39 purchase at Sams Club resulted:
21 points (1.5%)
47 points (bonus on gas purchases)
68 points total, equates to 5% (tad more due to rounding)
I'm happy this has been working in Arizona at gas stations including Fry's Gas (Kroger AZ brand name used). Sadly, my Citi Costco VISA doesn't give me the correct 4% (only gives 1%). I read somewhere Citi/Costco was claiming it's because the gas stations aren't coded right, but this proves otherwise that other CCs will give the proper gas points. So, Chase is giving me 5% this month (Freedom Unlimited). Ex:
Gas: $38.39
Points:
Bonus on gas: 134
1.5% points: 58
Total points: 192
5% grocery bonus plastered on over my chase account when logged in.
Signed up for a CFU via referral link on 1/8.
Grocery promo ended 5 days later on 1/13.
A week later I check my statement and I'm not getting the 5% grocery bonus... Which the rep told me would be added automatically when we spoke over the phone!
They simply decided not to give me the bonus and won't add it now.

So I maxed out this offer in February - Does anyone know if the cash back earned on this offer counts toward the $75 quarterly limit on the regular 5% categories (Freedom card)? I want to max that out by the end of the month.

If anyone is watching this thread - the 5% cask back earned for this promo does not count toward the $75 / quarter maximum! I was able to max out both of them.
