I have 805 fico and they decline my Application for Venture credit card and wasted 1 credit check. I won't be applying any Capital one credit card anytime soon.
Call the reconsideration line, could be an error on the app or a typo. Happened to me before
Keep in mind that you'll also get a hard pull from all 3 bureaus anytime you apply for a Capital One credit card.

If you get this card and spend the money before the 3 month period, does the $200 come right away or do you have to wait the full 90 day period basically?
I just recently received my card. I made my first 3 purchases in a 24 hour period that added up to $600. It took 48 hours for all 3 to post. Then it took about 24 hours after that to unlock the $200 credit. I was able to redeem the $200 credit towards my balance and it can take up to 72 hours to post the credit to the account balance.

How long did it take for you to receive the card from the time of approval? They are saying 2 weeks for me.

It took about 2 weeks for mine to show up. First letter was the terms which came about a week after application. Then about a week after that the card came in.
How does CO autopay work? My statement balance is around $300, but I have used the $200 reward for my balance, so the current balance is $100. Does the autopay pull only the $100 that i owe, or it pulls the $300 in my statement balance?
CapitalOne sent me an email with subject "*** It's official! Santosh, we're pleased to present this offer for a $200 cash bonus." I thought it as a pre-approval and applied and got denied. Unnecessary hard pull on my credit, I didn't really needed this card, feel tricked by CaptialOne.
Sofi: "The $0-annual-fee card earns 2% unlimited cash back on eligible purchases when redeemed toward investing, saving or paying down an eligible loan with SoFi.".
Most people that get cash back cards just want to apply it towards their monthly statement or get gift cards or whatever. If you have a loan/account with SoFi it's a pretty good option. But it's a niche market.
The PayPal card looks pretty good too. You need a PayPal account, which not everyone has or wants to use. But that's not really much of a gatekeeper to getting the card.
Chase, Amex, and Capital One offer a more diverse lineup, better rewards (especially on travel rewards cards), and Chase even lets you pool "cash back" earned on the Freedom cards to full featured Ultimate Rewards points. All three also offer better benefits on their cards, especially during Covid.
But I guess if you only use PayPal then you could go that route. And if you have a SoFi loan you could go that route. But again, niche market.
Edit: The Citi Double cash card is 2% and I would pick that over PayPal or SoFis offering any day of the week.
Was about to say that the citi double cash card is a good one lol
That's great if you are already planning on a big purchase. But if you're not, then you're just wasting $500 to get $200. But if you're like my family, we easily spend over $1000/month on regular shopping and groceries. Using it for regular purchases for a few weeks will have it done in no time.
Don't do it, it's basically a scam! I signed up for this last time and six months later I called them to see why I did not get my $200 and they told me that because I had previously had an account with them, a different account, that they would not honor it…
If so shouldn't I just call CS and ask them to convert me to this card with the $200 bonus and be done with it, or is it best done by first applying for it and if approved then closing the first card (which has zero balance)? I got the older card over 20 years ago when my credit was so-so and it was the best that I could do, and used it to improve my score. Never missed a payment. But it's long since served its purpose and it's time to move on. I'm at nearly 800 now and will probably pass it soon as I pay everything off.
OTOH, they're not likely to make much if anything off me, and by seeing my recent spending and paying off balances history, they probably know it.
I tried.... they are clueless how to convert my card to this. Don't waste your time. 27m trying to explain this to them
I too have an Excellent credit score and was rejected almost instantly for this card.
Maybe they are looking for people that carry balances or are more likely to.
