Are you sure it was this model? This has the 128gb storage whereas the other cheaper ones are usually 64gb. I could be wrong though, I haven't been following this computer for a while now.
Black Friday was last year. I bought one then and I grabbed another on open box for $23x out the door yesterday when the price came down. This machine is a super value/performance stunner if ChromeOS does what you need it to.
can you install straight Android on this app? My father does not know how to use ChromeOS.
Assuming you are asking if you can install Android on this computer: No, or at least not to my knowledge; this computer was not meant to have Android installed on it. I wouldn't try to do it. Out of the box, however, it's easy to sign into Google, access the Play Store, and install Android apps. The Android Play Store was available for both myself and my son when I signed each of us in. Also note, when the keyboard is detached, Chrome OS on this computer acts surprisingly similar to Android.

ChromeOS is way easier than Android.

yes it was this 128gb model. Black Friday deal and not going to be that price for a while, if ever again.
It's a $20 difference from Black Friday, so I may bite the bullet and get one. Although it's really hard to beat my $99 Lenovo 100e that I use all the time, and the $350 Lenovo Flex 5 that has i3, 8GB ram, much faster machine. This Duet could be a nice casual device for more casual use. I have an iPad but I much prefer ChromeOS over my iPad.

I don't understand Google's design idea with ChromeOS. It feels like a gimped Android tbh. Why is there a main screen where only 10% of the screen is used and the rest is a wallpaper. Makes no sense. It would be perfect if it was basically just a desktop Android experience (i.e. added keyboard/mouse support). My old man won't even touch the i3 Chromebook I got him from Costco because it's just different enough that he does not understand how to use it. Some apps are also not compatible (i.e. WeChat). Yeah I know WeChat sucks and I wouldn't use it but some old people won't use a device if it cannot run it.
