I really want to love Alienware. Good support and a decent product. But, after purchasing an Aurora last year, I won't be buying them again.
The cases are "cool" and all. But, when I cant stick a 11" video card (2080) in even that case...you can forget this product. Upgrades are part of PC evolution and lengthen the life expectancy. I want to be able to upgrade to anything.

I'll stick with full size cases thanks.

Id say this is a good deal for people who need a computer right now. But for people who want something that can be upgraded and not have to deal with dell support and proprietary things I recommend waiting for graphic cards to come back in stock.

Build this on pcpartpicker & the unavailability/markup of the 3070, this is a decent deal.

HP has 3070 desktop for around $1300. I am so confused about the pricing now.

Can anyone make a recommendation on the following?
1) Is it worth it to upgrade the RAM to 3200 or 3400MHz?
2) Will the 3700X bottleneck this build vs one with a 5600X or 10700K?
1) No. marginal performance increase at best.
2) Depends on your needs. For most people it doesn't matter. For those wanting 1080p 240/360Hz then yes it will matter, but that's a super minority in the community.

Last night I saw many 3070s drop on Amazon. They were $650. I wasnt able to click fast enough to purchase any of them..they all errored out. If you price out the parts and assume they're all top brands then $1,500 is a good deal. It's about what you'd spend building it yourself. Obviously I wouldn't expect all the parts to be top brands, but for the average person this is a fair buy.
The "drops" on Amazon kept clearing the cart or saying not available for 100's trying to purchase while watching on a twitch forum bot showing availability. Seemed like bugged or fake. Survey said only 1 to 3 people were able to purchase after hours of these "drops"

Lots of reviews say that fans are loud when gaming. Maybe case does not have good air flow???

I wouldn't buy this system with the intention to upgrade. You can't be sure the board would run faster ram and the gains (if any) would be small.

I also wouldnt worry about any bottlenecks here...if thats a worry for you then build a pc. Honestly, don't worry about it.

If you're buying a system for benchmark competitions then you want to build one.

You're asking about very small gains..0-10fps at best. Im sure some one will disagree, but some people do obsess over a few fps.
I found this comment about the cpu to be very helpful. I had similar concerns as JinN above, but didn't really know what bottlenecks would amount to.

As an average user that just wants a nice prebuilt system, I have one less minor difference to consider in a somewhat complicated purchase.

Very possible. The stock forums had atleast one person that was able to get a couple. I watched the stock dropping as I attempted.

Maybe this info will help others: I had requested to be notified of stock through B&Hphoto and they sent me an email invite with a code to purchase OOS items. I was able to order a 5600X.

Depends on what resolution you are running. Most likely not.

I have the Aurora r10 with the 3700x and a 2060 super.
Here are some prime notes for you all to clarify some things that ppl think:
1- RAM upgrades can be a pain 3rd party, but there are forums ppsts on this, and you can use corsair vengeance. Bios supports up 3400mhz, but only with 2 sticks. I went with 2x 16gb corsair
2- SSD additions are super easy and rheres space for 3 + 1nvme pcie, but you have to enable it as AHCI in bios. (Flick of a switch)
3- the overclock on the alienware software is great, but has its bugs, and I have an easier time with Msi afterburner
4 - upgradeability: forget all the nonsense you heard. U can upgrade virtually anything on the machine with it given specs. Ram a and drives above. I added a corsair h60 liquid cooler aio for the cpu. Changed all fans to noctuas. The GPU is maxed out at around 11 inch. While this is not ideal for some, this is a small form factor computer. Its only a little bit bigger than a ps5 in height.
5- looks: its hot. You would be crazy to not think its cool looking in person. Lights are fun to play with too.
6-noise: change out the fans asap. They are loud af. Especially the top fan. Get rid ASAP.
hope that helps. Im very happy with my purchase and i can run any game i throw at it at least 50fps on high.
3700x is by no means a bottleneck

No way you run msfs 2020 on ultra at 50fps....
