Hah.. That sucks. Not to be a dick but, even though it sucks, its not their fault...They operate with strict guidelines the company sets. Buy things you arnt going to return and you would have received the bonus. Pretty simple. It sounds like you wernt thinking about it or paying attention either, something else that isnt their fault.

Some people always like not taking responsibility for their life and actions. Just saying...
They don't appear to have returned it, they never received it and then it was automatically refunded.

Indeed, which is why its good to properly read what people post so that you don't go on a diatribe about them not taking responsibility for their "life and actions". Just saying...

I think you missed my point. Its not their responsibility to manage your transactions. Its unfortunate that it happened, but its not the cc companies fault that it happened. They just go by the balance and the card and if it meet those very specific rules for the promo. That would be your responsibility one way or the other, regardless of it being out of your hands or not.

I got my letter. Reason for denial is...
"· Based on your application information, there are too many Capital One accounts"
My letter states:
Too many bank card tradelines opened in the last 24 months.
Too many new revolving accounts.
Too many revolving account.
It's true because I opened 3 accounts in Citi bank last year to get $700 bonus, Tmobile Money to get high interest rate and 2 WF for my kid. I have about 20 credit card with.total credit limit about $200K and every month I use about 2K but I paid off on the due date.
But just 2 week ago, I applied Chase Flex card to get $200 bonus. I got approval with $15 K credit limit instantly. No wonder Credit Karma does not suggest me any CC from Capital One.
By the way, with every hard inquire my credit score only drops 2-5 points then bounce back right away. I don't care about credit score anymore because I'm retired and will not apply any home/car loan anymore.

lul. Strange. They seem kinda overly conservative in their cc approvals. I opened about 5 new credit cards within the last year here, and just opened a new Chase Flex card for the $200 bonus myself(which I just got today) and a BOA platinum card for a $500 bonus last week. I also have about 15 or so credit cards. I still got approved.

Thank you for sharing this. It makes me not dare try to apply since my situation is very similar as yours. I have 21 credit card accounts with 267K in total credit. Have 2 credit cards opened in the past 12 months. One is Chase Freedom Flex for the $200 signup bonus, while another is Chase Business Ink for $500 bonus. I used to have a Sony Visa which was issued by Capital One, but the business was sold to Comenity bank about 2 years ago so I no longer have any credit cards by Capital One. If you did not get approved for the Savor One, I don't think I would.

Be careful with Capital One before you take the credit hit, they are known to "play games" with these cards.

I applied for a Capital One card with great credit and after taking the credit hit I was refused. But, > I wasn't really refused <. Capital one then offered me the exact Same Card but with a change of terms that EXCLUDED any of the bonuses. I refused their offer but still took the hit.

Be careful with these guys. Capital one is the only bank who has ever pulled this stuff on me (never been refused) pretty shady bank. You may want to reconsider if you're concerned with a credit pull only to have them do a Bait and Switch.

Like others have said, I was approved but got hit with 3 inquires, 1 each to all credit reports which sucks really.

That's even worse if you dont get approved and end up with 3 new inquires on your report.

Isn't it just a temporary hit? Whats the downside unless you are looking for a loan in the next couple months?

This is a pretty good bonus. It usually runs around $150-$200 for this card and $250 is highest it's ever been. But the real draw here is 15 months with no interest on new purchases. That means you can max the card out, use the money to invest in other things for over a year, and only pay min payments until mid 2022. Can easily use that credit to nearly double your money if you have the right investment strategy.
Investing on leverage, what could possibly go wrong?

Temporary yes, but will stay on your report for 2 years. Nothing major but will affect your score for a while.

I've noticed these hits can effect your credit for up to 12 months. If you don't plan on using the hits for some other purpose, it doesn't matter. For me, I'm not bothering with Cap One after the garbage switching they pulled (I'm not a fan to begin with). I'd rather use the hit for another bank offer I have faith in.

What's the right investment strategy to double your money in 15 months?
