Thanks for the info! I know FF has food for seniors that I've tried but our 20 year old doesn't always like that. I'll try some kitten food to try and increase her weight a bit since she is on the thin side.
Fancy Feast is about 78% water; indeed, the can is more than 3/4 water.
A kitten nursing kitten needs about 25 calories (actually kcals) per 3.5 oz (100 g) of body weight. After weaning a kitten needs about 1/2 that, and an adult cat needs about 7-8 calories/3.5 oz of body weight. This varies with activity--if you cat is an indoor couch potato, it may need less. It should be no surprise that most indoor cats are a little pudgy or worse.
If you're going to feed a fully weaned kitten, usually about 1.5 - 2 lbs or more, they will be needing about 80 - 100+ calories/day, or a can or more per day and as they grow.
There are more calorie dense kitten foods on the market. FF, or any canned food for that matter, is good if you need to supplement a cat's diet with additional water.
Fancy Feast is also formulated with flavor and or scent additives, usually non-nutritional that make it nearly irresistible to cats. If you get a cat started on FF, be prepared to be buying it for the rest of their life. It's call "Kitty Crack" for good reason...
