Didn't see this posted.
For any motorcyclists looking for extra protection, Dainese is having a rare 20% sale on its untethered air bag vest.

It is still a good chunk of change but it is basically the price of a nice helmet but for protection for your upper body.

Today is the last day of the deal.

A lot of people that don't have a clue posting a lot of worthless comments here. This is a great advance in safety and is finally coming down in price. Two years ago this could only be had in a 1000 dollar jacket, and before that only in a full leather suit. For those uninformed this is a step up from all other safety tech because it prevents your neck from getting tossed around during a tumble. So it goes together with your other gear, the helmet to keep your skull in tact, the leathers to keep your skin on, and this vest to protect your neck, back and ribs.

Just because riding is more dangerous than a car doesn't mean you throw all safety measures out. It isn't all or nothing in this life, you do what you want and you risk mitigate to your preference. Not all bikers are lunatics, some of us enjoy the thrill, enjoy saving money on gas, enjoy getting to work and through traffic faster, and enjoy getting home safe.

By the way, every bike is one less car in front of you on your commute, so embrace the two wheelers out there and to the OP thank you for sharing.
Imagine thinking that being in an accident makes you qualified to make such an assertion. It's amazing you haven't been employed by Dainese or A-Stars, what with your massive wealth of knowledge.

Despite being in the presence of someone so smart and so knowledgeable, let me try to present some information. These have gyros that make one analysis per millisecond, and take another 30-45 milliseconds to deploy. That means you'd have a fully-inflated bag in probably under 50 milliseconds on the high side. I'm sure you are aware of how fast that is, being so knowledgeable, but for the other people that don't know better, you'd only travel ~7.4 feet flying off your bike at 100mph (just under 148fps) in that time, or about 5ft at a more sane 70mph. You'd still have 50-350 milliseconds left to complete an eyeblink.

But, now that my dripping sarcasm has stopped, I'd love to know how you being a bad rider translates to understanding time intervals.
Ty!
Hopefully more motorcycle deals

This is almost snake oil, bike accidents are bad. Sometimes fatal, I have seen the meat smeared on I-95 few years back of a motorcycle rider. Lets avoid this high risk behavior and avoid this bs dumb jacket which can deploy accidentally and cause your kids to be orphan.
The fact that MotoGP uses them would indicate to me that this is far from "snake oil".

People who have never even ridden a motorcycle should not be adding their useless opinions and comments here.

It's only the jacket. The airbag is another $700 add-on.

Honestly, I can't see how this is worth $600.

If you're on a bike, you damn well better be wearing a helmet, and drive sensibly, if you are concerned about safety.

Better to wear a really tough jacket, and invest in a set of skid bars for your bike, if you want addition safety, vs buying this.
Sometimes driving sensibly isn't good enough because there are other mistake-making humans on the road.

If only people knew how much that seatbelt cost in their vehicle, yet it's not 100% going to save your life. Thank God it's not an option when buying a car!

This gimmick seem to work well with suckers that believe in it. By the time it deployed, u probably dead or have dead already.
Wrong....Jesus Christ if you can't perform basic arithmetic to understand how fast the damn thing deploys then keep your useless ignorant comments to yourself.

I don't have a motorcycle, but I wanna buy this just in case I end up with a motorcycle when I have my mid life crisis. 🤣 This vest looks awesome.

Bump up for a motorcycle related deal. Sadly not available in my size, otherwise I would have bought it. I think they can be used both for street and track.

I have an airbag system from another brand. Although I've never had to deploy mine, the technology is real and very beneficial in event of an accident. Depending on the airbag, 1 airbag is equal to 7-16 level 2 back protectors. The technology is trickling down from MotoGP where racers crash at very high speeds. Marquez crashed at 209mph, walked away, and raced the same weekend. The sensor's recorded impact force of than 25Gs (sensor maximum limit). Source: https://www.crash.net/motogp/news...00mph-fall

If you watch videos, the airbag deploys before the rider even leaves the seat.

Most people who complain about the cost are also the ones who wear a shitty DOT helmet, and no other gear.

There are a lot of ... not smart ... people posting on here about tech that comes straight from MotoGP and saying it's not useful. Airbags in suits are standard gear for all professional riders these days. An airbag vest provides less protection than a full suit airbag, but still does so. If you don't know about something, don't post!
I think the negative comments (with no basis or proof) are from users that have never ridden a bike. They probably think Dainese is a walmart-brand or something.

It is supposed to fully deploy, meaning the bags will be fully inflated, 10 times faster than the blink of an eye. Even in the slowmo vids, it looks extreme fast.

If the area of the damage is your rib cage or back, this thing is supposed to have you fully protected.
My experience has been much the opposite. I use a similar product at the race track and having gone down in it, I can say it without a doubt saved me from injury. The neck cushion also stopped my helmet from making contact with the ground, so it paid for itself right there. I got up from the crash, licked my bikes wounds, repacked the vest, installed a new CO2 canister and went back out to run more laps.

There is a reason there are used by the guys in MotoGP and in other extremely high risk riding. Timing is not an issue for deployment, even with the vests that use tethers for deployment.
