The $850 version has the drying fan and a LCD on the top control panel that shows cycle countdown and includes more delay options. The front panel has a pocket handle instead of a towel bar and includes a small LED display that I believe indicates cycle countdown.

I have the next model up with the drying fan. Compared to the LG it replaced, this model washes and drys MILES better. Glass cups come out crystal clear and my kid's plastic sippie cups/plates come out dry as a bone. I have only had it for about 2 months but have been very impressed!

Think Costco has my model on sale for $850.

Exactly, great deal, just have a back up plan in case install doesn't go well Smilie.

And knowing that you have to make a separate call to schedule - no one from Costco will otherwise contact you to make an installation appointment, you have to do that yourself. You can chat or call Costco directly in order to do that.

Finally, have a backup method of installation if all else fails, whether you hire a local company, are handy, or know someone who's handy. If you have to hire someone else they should comp you.

I would still do my deal again, but I wish I knew more of the game in order to play. Good luck all.
When do you call Costco to schedule install? Before the delivery?

I feel like I've been on a dishwasher whirlwind with the Miele and the other Costco DW over the weekend. This looks to work best for me. I went with this version (not the fan). Reviews seem to say this one dries well and not sure I want to spend another $100 on something that might end up breaking anyway.
I am right there with you. Was actually out at best buy looking at the Maytag DW from Cosco (since Costco only has a few on display in store). Was close to pulling the trigger, but didn't because our current on is still working. Well, last night, it ran the whole night, so now I'm thinking this KitchenAid might be the one. I do like that big 3rd rack. (All the others I saw were so thin, not even useful. But the drying fan for $90 more. That's the question.

Good luck to you!

I was able to order the next model up (KDPM604KPS) for $850 but didn't post it here because it disappeared from the website. It's back now for my zip code though so now I feel confident the order will go through. Glad to hear you like yours!

Thanks for the model. Just bought one with the fan and hope that the fan won't break or cause problems in the future.

The Costco website says you must uninstall for haul away to be performed, but the delivery confirmation email I received said the installer will uninstall the dishwasher... I would uninstall your old one just to be safe.

Debating the Maytag DW from previous post or this. It seems this is the better way to go for an extra $250? Also, I dont have a costco Credit card yet, but it seems that would be a better way to go and get the extra 3 year warranty? Has anyone in the midwest (Indiana/Chicagoland area) had a successful install from costco's thirdparty installer?

Is the only difference between this one and the DW for $850 a drying fan?

All i read there was "more things that can breakdown sooner" lol, but seriously I have a 18 year old plain jane DW that is loud but reliable. I keep seeing dishwasher deals and am tempted, but part of me wants to just leave it till it breaks?

Edit: further research also shows the $850 model also includes an interior LED light. Might be worth the price difference...

FYI, had a horrible experience with scheduling installation with my dishwasher - separate appointment is needed for the install vs delivery. Costco outsources delivery to Innovel which then outsources installation to another company. Tried to schedule installation appointments for 3 separate dates and the installation company no-showed for all 3. Costco finally gave me $200 to find my own installer (usually $150 max but the guy felt bad for me).

YMMV and hopefully Costco has a better installation partner in other people's area.
Innovel was the install company for my washer. Worst experience ever. Lowe's gave me a 250 dollar refund. It was either a no show or they came by without tools. He did mention they also contracted with Costco and was giving them just as many issues.

The final visit they said they got it working. So I tried to use it. Sure enough, water sprayed everywhere. They never tested the hot water. I had had enough of that. I unhooked and rehooked up everything myself. At least they bought the supplies with them. Then I went straight to Lowe's with my receipt. He already knew that had blotched yet another install. He had been giving partial refunds all day for their crappy service.

I seriously doubt a new dishwasher will go over 10 years. They just don't make em like they use to. Like you said, too many sensors and stuff.

They do a good job and are much easier to use. But that comes at a cost having to get them replaced sooner. But my mom's oven had a circuit board on it. It only cost me 70 bucks to get a new board. Took me a few hours to install it since I had to build a new wire harness but it worked like new after that. It makes me wonder if these things aren't actually that hard to work on.

Same here. We ended up installing ourselves which is taking longer due to an unforeseen issue with replacement plumbing we needed. We tried for 3 days to get Costco to come out before we gave up.

I installed this dishwasher (same basic model but didn't have the 3rd rack) in our last place and really liked it -- very quiet and very effective. I think the only knock on it was that the full cycle takes about 3 hours, was a shock to us after our previous DW (Kenmore Elite) was less than half the time, though not as energy efficient. Then we realized that all DW are that way now.

I ended up doing a self-install because Lowes was useless, and HD was no better. I had installed a thin (7mm) vinyl plank floor over the original sheet vinyl so there was a slight lip in front of the dishwasher cavity. No one would do an installation with that lip because they said they didn't want to be liable for potentially damaging the floor. Very annoying.

That said, removing the old one was the hardest part, and the actual installation was a piece of cake. I had a local junk metal dealer come by and pick up the old dishwasher for free.

Just bought a 5 year old townhouse with a Frigidaire dish washer that seems to work (haven't fully moved in yet). What are the typical lifespans of dishwashers? I've been impressed with the third rack when I saw it in a Miele dishwasher.
