I thought it was a great deal until i found out that most of the parts are proprietary. Correct me if i'm wrong but even the GPU is their own custom GPU which means you can't just replace it with a full size 4070/5070 next time. There's also people complaining of thermal issues. That being said, ts a fantastic price @ $1199 for a 3070 but be aware of the limitations.
Considering the street value of even a used 3070 is north of $800 right now, this should sell out in all of about 6 seconds.
7 replacements? Your persistence is commendable.

Far from upgradeable but it holds its value for local resell because of the brand name.

Blower style GPUs are loud. The CPU water cooling is a single fan radiator (120mm, I think), so it revs up a lot.

Won't be able to fit most GPUs in case, most are too long, many are also too wide.

Motherboard has no flashback, they pushed me a BIOS update through Alienware Update and it bricked the computer for 30-days until they got a new one in stock

I had an R11 10700k, sold the stock 2080s for $480, upgraded to a 3070 FE and sold it for $2k local, made $500 on the deal but really didn't like owning the computer

Definitely good deal for those who don't want to build or want to stay away from lower quality mass producers

I was using a 3070 XC3 / 5900x in the new computer I built and I was getting upwards of 6-9 FPS more in MSFS 2020 (at 4K) than in the Alienware R11 10700k 3070 FE. Only thing I can potentially attribute those frames differences to is maybe the motherboard - frankly have no idea.

Yeah, I've had 3 mainboard swaps in my r15 laptop, I'll never buy dell again.
I have an M17 R3 with a 2070 Super. Dell fixed the thermal issues on the R2s by adding a vapor chamber and more fan blades. I have no thermal issues, FYI.

I have severe Builder's Remorse. I just finished building a computer about 3 weeks ago. I spent about $1000 and it's only equipped with a GTX1660-Super....that was all I could get my hands on!

This may seem tempting because of RTX 3070.

But not worth spending $1,200 in my honest opinion. Unless you thinking $800 for RTX 3070 that you are going to put in a better system or something. Case, cpu, ram, PSU are not worth getting.

I paid more this week for the Cyberpower i7-10700f with 3060ti and I don't regret it. One plus that has is the platform is upgradeable.

Say you consider the 3700x to be about 250 and the 3070 to be about 600, you've still got 850 in base value right there. Add in 50 bucks of ram, 50 bucks of SSD, 50 bucks of PSU, and 50 bucks of motherboard and you're already at 1050. This is undervaluing most of the components, but even still it isn't a big jump to consider the case, wifi module, and availability in the modern market ot be worth the extra 150. I don't get the naysayers. As another pointed out, this thing could mine eth for a month and pay for some of that upcharge.

Most pre-built and OEM PCs have been increasing their prices this year due to the tariff exemptions expiring last year. I though the days of seeing another PC with a RTX 3070 for under $1200 were long gone. So why is Dell seemly unaffected by this year's tariff fees?
