Yes, it is required. Summary:
- Test Must be within 72 hours of departure time
- Test must be nucleic acid amplification (NAAT)
- Must be performed at one of the State Approved testing providers (you can get the list on the link below)

Official link = See here - https://www.hawaii-guide.com/hawa...id-testing

Uncomfortable =/= idiotic.

For certain blood cell cancers, they had to do a bone marrow biopsy. They had to stick a huge needle into your hip to extract out some marrow to test. Now there is a blood test.

The previous test wasn't idiotic it was just the best they had at the time.
Maybe take a science/biology course at your local community college to brush up on things .. or in this case learn? Instead of saying dumb things online.

If someone already completed 2 vaccine shots, do you know if they still require covid test to get on board?

Are they still using 4 inch stick for nose while testing or use something less idiotic?
There's saliva test now. The one you're referring to is a nasopharyngeal swab, so not idiotic as it's point is to reach the nasopharynx.

Im in Big Island right now and self quarantine is waived if you have a negative test within 72 hours of the last leg of your trip. They also test you prior to leaving the airport and will reach out if you are tested positive. BTW, my flight was less than half full to Honolulu and pretty full on connector flight to Big Island. Its 80 degrees right now and it is awesome!

Most certainly. I saw the San Diego airport is doing them right there, maybe LAX is too.
Yes, LAX has onsite rapid testing.

At last! Other countries use saliva test almost from the beginning. I'm sure there is a lot of people won't stick something 4 inch long into their noses just because of the vacation.

I don't think Hawaii accepts the rapid test to waive quarantine right? Tests are not covered by insurance if anyone is wondering.

Perfect. Want to avoid LAX and any stops.

Any other deals out of SoCal or PHX?

Hopefully by May they'll have a Vax protocol to avoid quarantine etc.
It depends..vaccine doesn't guarantee no infection/contagion and with some variants it might not be effective, so a negative test might still be the safer bet

Only when considered along with length, diameter, weight, and angle of the tip (squared, of course).
