It's appreciated for that schooling at the least!
I clearly had no idea there was even a difference with cellular fixed internet. The T-mobile signup rep mentioned slots. I assumed them to not know what they were talking about & that it was purely unlocked hotspot/router tech.
Think about a cell tower as a wifi hotspot. There are only so many devices they can connect before it gets overwhelmed. Aside from the purely technical limits, they still have to be able to provide good cell service.

So they have to look at their usage patterns per tower to see how much they can devote to an always-connected device. On a tower near an interstate or a popular recreation location, they may only be able to spare a handful of slots. Towers serving mostly corn fields could have dozens.

Its nice to have another option on the market but right now my neighbor can't sign up for the same service I have because the slots are gone....

Anyone use Starlink on a RV?

It states "Residential Use. Services and the Starlink Kit are for use exclusively at the address you provided in your Order, and only for personal, family, household or residential use"

If i move it out of the address provided on the order, will it stop working?

I'm not acting until I see Elon musk's tweet telling me what to do... as with all my life's decisions.

As a amateur astrophotographer, I am torn about Starlink as I know ppl in rural US and parts of the world where they can use better internet, but seems like it will suck for the night sky going forward. I mean if you have even ONE Starlink account/device in a remote village assuming electricity is available (low power equipment?), it would benefit dozens if not hundreds of users since they aren't goin to be using to watch 4K HDR streams or doing competitive eSport. So reluctantly, I am all for faster and more internet availability to more people.

ouch. I've met a bunch of radio astronomers and it does appear to suck for them.
I'm curious if ppl have followed Starlink technology wise, is it portable that once I become a subscriber, i can pick it up and take it to anywhere in the world to use my service? Are there roaming charges and can a country gov't regulate or shutdown the service? If it is truly portable for access anywhere, there is tremendous value in it.

Here's hoping Tmobile's 5G home internet turns out OK/usable.
I had it and right now the hardware they force you into using is trash. If they would let me put the SIM in another device it would be awesome for 50$ a month.

This.

If you use real data instead of the junk the recent FCC was putting out, something like half of americans don't have real broadband access.

Fastest I can get at my house is 8 Mb DSL, no matter how much I'm willing to pay.

And I only get that without a data cap by paying business rates.

I'd happily pay double what Starlink is asking just to get half the average speed users of starlink in the beta are receiving.

Even that would be 5x faster than what I have now.

If I got average starlink beta speeds it'd be a 10x improvement.

And the targeted final speeds would be a roughly 120x improvement over the best I can get now.

I can't even get DSL in my property, AT&T stopped accepting new costumers. I have 2.5 options, both are terrible because of the price, data caps and third world country speeds. Hughes.crap or mobile hotspot with 1-3 bars signal.

This looks very promising although a bit expensive. I pre ordered and hope it gets better and cheaper in the future.

I've had Starlink for about a month, and in the past week I'm fairly consistent at 80-100 down and 10-20 up, with spikes here and there. The best thing though is that my latency has improved dramatically over the past week, from low 100s to low 20s. This is a great product.

Sucks to live ~10 miles from downtown LA in a pretty population dense area and being stuck with 13Mb down/1Mb up ADSL2. I could drive less than 5 minutes east or west and 75Mb/20Mb would be available. Pocket of sucky internet. Frown
