I've had it for a couple months in WA state. I am really happy, the best option I could get before was 6mbps down for $50 per month, now I get up to 200 for $100 per month. Usually around 75. I have a couple mins downtime per day that gets lower the more satellites he puts up. Currently about 2 mins per day total, a couple seconds at a time. Ping to game servers is not bad, usually under 30 but does go higher sometimes.
Thanks for the heads up. I refuse to pay for hughsnet or viastat low data cap internet. I have been using the mobile hotspot on my phone for years now. This will be a game changer for my home when it is available.

Kuiper, Viasat, Hughes & Starry were promoted to provide lower cost internet for the masses, but some of them might have changed their business model during 2020.
Starry is practically the OPPOSITE of all these. They're fixed wireless, and only operate in a tiny number of large cities that already HAVE broadband options.
Kuiper is a similar idea to starlink- but are way behind them (AFAIK they haven't launched a single satellite yet-haven't even finished the design of the ones they HOPE to eventually launch- while Starlink has over 1000 in orbit already)
Hughes and Viasat are garbage technology compared to this- they use a tiny number of geosynch orbit satellites instead of a large number of low orbit ones- meaning they're slow for downloads, they're REALLY REALLY slow for uploads, and have horrible latency, and typically have terrible data caps too.... (or, more deceptively, "unlimited" data where you get heavily throttled at higher use)
For example Viasat (from speedtest data) only averages about 25Mbps down (and less than 3 Mbps up) with latency near 700ms (about 15 times worse than Starlinks beta service for latency)
Hughesnet saw average downloads under 20Mbps, and latency even worse than Viasat.
I am paying over $60 for wireless that is maybe 2.5 megabits/second at home. And I am paying over $60 for 10 megabits DSL for a rental trailer. This deal looks pretty good. Well, except for the "temporary" loss of access. Even if I only get a small bandwidth, I like to get my emails promptly.

I am so excited for this. I personally have zero use for it but so many people don't have access to decent broadband and this will resolve that. It isn't cheap but putting thousands of satellites into orbit isn't either. My understanding is that they are taking a huge bath on the home satellites even after the $500 they get for them. For all of those in rural America that cable and fiber won't service this will be huge. Not to mention all of the countries that don't have infrastructure at all. This has the potential to be a world changer.
I live in rural Colorado where all I can get is 6Mpbs, so I buy two lines and combine at the router. I get a total of 13Mpbs + 75-100ms latency for about $150/mo. Im as excited as a person could be for this... even at this high price. Plus I bought into dogecoin before the rush so I'll pay with it.

Thanks! I've been following Starlink's progress for a couple years. Like someone else mentioned........
this internet is not meant to replace fiber and cable internet. It is mainly for people in rural areas like myself that our best options aren't too great.
Even in beta testing i was hearing 30ms latency and 50MB/S download. Obviously will be way quicker later on.
They said you should be able to stream whatever, play whatever, download whatever and not notice and bandwidth issues.

I had checked about a month ago and no sign up possible...even for the wait list.
Now the wait list is available. Hopefully that means progress in our area.
