So once you get the new sim, how long do you have before the sim/plan gets expired? I am using Lycamobile 3+1 month plan and my current plan would end next month on 14th. So planning to buy this plan, redeem the code and have the sim handy before my plan expires

Love this service. Used for 1 year now. You can renew 1 day before plan due day to keep data. I do $6 data (1 GB) and Payg for minutes.
I think you might even be able to renew the morning of renewal manually if you don't want to lose a day. My plan always renews around the same time with the automated system, so I think as long as you time it right, you don't lose anything. Basically anytime from midnight to like 7 or 8am eastern for me. Plan usually renews by 9 or 10am

I haven't figured out how to automatically pay with tello referral dollars, so I renew when my payment fails.

I don't think you can. If you want to use tello dollars, you have to do it manually

When I hover over the expiration date on the dashboard, mine says it will renew between 3 am and 9 am. I don't want to risk losing the rolled data, so I redeem my Tello Dollars the day before.

That's a good way to not lose the day, but does the data still roll after a payment failure?

yes, I've done it twice.

Needs to be done on the same day, if it goes past that, minutes and data are gone.

It could depend on the current version of firmware that's installed on the phone. There's a good chance the phone will still work when they switch to GSM. In that specific regard, iphones have advantage vs. android phones -- there's less variation in support, and firmware updates are timely and uniform through apple vs. custom updates through individual carriers.
So if i switch out the old CDMA SIM to the new GSM SIM the firmware might update automatically or am I going to have to load new firmware myself?

Just signed up. Where/when do you get to pick your phone number?
or is one assigned to you?

So is this offer not good for returning customers? I ported out of Tello two months ago. Is the only way to take advantage of this offer to get a new number from them and create an account with a different email address?
I am with tello but need to port out to mint. As you already ported out of tello in past, could you help me with two questions -
1) When I click the button to retrieve my account number I have to check a box about forfeiting balance etc. Just want to make sure that is not going to happen until port out or as soon as I click the button, they are going to wipe my plan and service?
2) For the account PIN, do I put 0000 or the PIN that I received in my email during sign up process? Is passcode is same as account pin?

Thanks in advance.

Need help or explanation or how to:
I'm currently tello customer with similar promo, same plan, that activated mid September 2020, so in mid March I will be charged 14$ regular price. If I open another account [ being "new customer "] with different email, will I be able to use this current promo to extend my service for another 6mont, and KEEP MY CURRENT NUMBER?
