Everything you need, nothing you don't. It's refreshing.
No. The issue is the strong magnets in the iPhone 12 itself that will affect implanted medical devices like pacemakers. You don't need to be charging the phone, or own a MagSafe charger.

Y'all need to read the entire article, and not just the headlines.
Talk about a minimalistic post...

Most useless product I've bought in awhile. It's unreliable and more inconvenient than using the lightning plug, and it's slow. You'd be better served just using a quick charge wireless charger.

I might find a use for car/ebike charging on a homemade type phone mount.
Not really sure any of this is accurate. Even though it's only 15w it charges my iPhone 12 Pro Max just as fast as the usb c to lightning in the 20 watt adapter. And it's works every time it's attached. And it's actually better to use the phone with this than the lightning plugged into bottom of the phone. They need to start making these with 6 ft cables, that's my biggest complaint. There are a lot of people on here just complaining who have obviously never actually used it. It's not a breakthrough technology but it has its uses. It charges fast and is nice anywhere you are picking the phone up and using it for a second then setting it back down. Obviously it would be better if apple supported 15w wireless charging on any stand but they don't.

Apple must want people to adapt mag safe so they can go port less sooner rather than later.

This. I have an old charger from my 6s that I use on my new 12...I see no reason to upgrade to wireless. Also, if you intend to use the phone while charging - cables are much better anyway.
Defeating the purpose of the fast charge capability if you aren't using usb-C charging cable.

I'm still using the cheap USB powered and other Qi compatible chargers to charge my iPhone 11 max with zero issues. Not sure why anybody would spend more then you need for this. I don't even see the bitten Apple logo on it, how are people supposed to know they you have a "real" Apple charger.

Scam does not work. Apple and all its assets should be seized using lethal force. They advertise a charger than doesn't charge. The charger is not included. Scam and fraud
This IS the charger, it does not come with the power supply to energize the charger.
Sorry, two posts now that are not clear, which should not be difficult.

Going port-less has other consequences besides charging. Even for Apple, I don't see that happening for years down the road.

I've got the 12 Pro Max, and I've never owned another phone of any brand that's so picky as to where the standard wireless chargers sit. It has the Apple MagSafe leather case on it, but any charging disc I've tried to use (standard Qi) I have to pick up the phone and put it down like 10 times before it charges correctly. Woke up with a nearly dead phone more times than I'd like.

I really hope so. I'm NOT a fan of port-less. Unless they add something really special in its place.

Yeah, this entire system of charging seems like a money grab.
It's the cost of convenience. Everyone does their own value analysis. Whether someone finds it convenient enough to justify the cost (or even whether it is as effective as advertised) is up to them. For everyone else, the chargers from 6 generations ago will still work.

I want to laugh because I think you're joking, but the way things are these days, I worry that maybe you aren't.

We're all laughing because it's funny to act like the naming conventions (or lack thereof) for phone chargers is worthy of government intervention... right?

Message for iPhone12 users who are thinking about buying this. I have been using this for months as well as a 7.5W Anker wireless and a USB-C wired charger.

This is 50% faster at best than the 7.5W, and about 50% slower than USB-C wired.

IMHO, you are better off with a 7.5W for overnight (where speed is not relevant) and USB-C wired when speed matters.

It's a choice, for people who like alternatives. Until they improve wireless charging speeds, and magsafe attempts this by using magnets to line up/center the wireless bits, wired is going to be the fastest way to replace battery energy.
Pick one system if you must or can't handle making your own choices, but denigrating a choice other than the one you've chosen just makes you a fool.
it's been said that a fool and his money easily part. so please go ahead an "invest" in this charging system.

laugh out loud

This is a good option for mounting in your car if you need one, saves the hassle of needing to plug and then mount. You can hide the wire and it makes for the easiest car mount solution I've ever used.

Plenty of cheap 3D printed mounting brackets.
