Great watch. I wear it everyday when i grabbed this for $70 off of GPS Nation. Has almost all the basic functions you could ever ask for. Only thing left wanting is music storage, but certainly not a deal breaker.
I have had the Vivoactive 3 Music for several years. I like the watch very much, but I love the Music feature. I am able to load music, podcasts and audiobooks on the watch very easily from my PC and don't have to carry my phone with me when I am walking in a nearby park.

It is the best hybrid smart watch I have had. I also like the Garmin app for tracking my steps and other things. However, a few like flights of stairs walked, are inaccurate.
My Apple Watch disagrees with your definition of bad battery life..

I got the refurb from GPS Nation also and didn't buy the extended warranty. Nothing has broken, so I don't feel too regretful. I switched back to Android from iOS, so I sold my Apple Watch 3, and I'm happy. The battery life is better, and I feel like I'm wearing a traditional watch (preference). It seems accurate with most things, except it says I only get about 30 minutes of deep sleep per night. I think I'd be dead if that were the case. I only intended this to last me about 2 years, and I'm halfway there. I purchased a tempered glass screen protector (pack of 3 on Amazon for about $7), and it fit perfectly. I will definitely consider Garmin when I'm ready to buy a nicer, newer model.

I got the refurb GPS Nation deal as well and I agree with you on the sleep analysis. I find my fitbit charge 3 is more accurate. I think a watch with an sp02 would do an even better job. Btw, I opted not to get a screen protector and my screen is just fine. I took a big chance on that because I work outdoors and and I was sure my screen would get scratched but I so far so good.

For $30 more, you can get a renewed Vivoactive 3 Music on Amazon for those that are interested in music storage.

Dumb question but is there a iOS watch that doesn't require phone to be useful? I have Pixel 4a and I want something better than Forerunner 35. Frown

I've been jogging for 35+ years and never listened to music while hitting the pavement. I was always content with having that be quiet time and a bit safer hearing my surroundings (traffic!). Not to mention not wanting to carry anything. But I did buy the music version of this earlier this year and it's a game changer. I probably should still use my jogging time to clear my head in quiet, but being able to "carry" music so easily is perfect. Wish the tech had been around decades ago. The only complaint I have is it can take forever for my folders to load when getting ready to drop Mp3s to the watch. The extra price for the music feature is totally worth it for people wanting to hook up to Bluetooth buds.

Probably depends on what you value. This is much more activity tracker with some notifications from your phone. Doesn't the Fitbit have worse tracking (less accurate GPS and such), but more access to notifications/responding to notifications? I have a Pixel 4a and our "smart responses" on the VA3 can be customized, but let's be real - with a limited number of canned responses, you aren't having "Pizza" as your response, even if you know you will be asked what you want for meals regularly 😁

I've had mine for 2 years and it's awesome. Sadly I paid $250 for it at Bestbuy 18 months ago.
Either way I love it

I don't care as much for smart watch functionality and looking mostly for activity tracker.

I would say the VA3 then, for sure. The VA4 has an extra sensor if you do repetitive arm motions, like weight lifting. It costs a bit more though. I understand Garmin is supposed to be announcing new models very soon, but I think more on the advanced lines like Fenix. Unless you got a microphone/speaker combo on a VA5, I don't think the VA4 is necessary so a lot of people. If you did a lot of weight type stuff or just desperately wanted music, sure. I think a new VA3 music is pretty close to a VA4 in price... Refurb VA3 music seems to be a more noticeable price difference.

Vivoactive 3 has the following sensors: GPS, Barometer, Temperature. In GPS tracking, Does it record the temperature and pressure also?

if yes, can I later export all the logged data as GPX file or another format.

Yes, you can see that data for recorded activity such as bike ride on your garmin connect. Not pressure per se but more accurate climb data. Temperature is also available.

I loved my Vivoactive 3. I had the best buy coverage on it and only used it when the band loop snapped (which can be replaced for cheap on amazon). They gave me my money back and I bought the Vivoactive 4. A year later, I think I like the Vivoactive 3 better. At this price..it's a win compared to the $250+ I paid.
