Wait, so does the smart dimmer/charger combo thingy have to be wired in into the wall? How does that work?

It plugs directly into the wall and the outlets are on each side of the device.

Thanks for the post! That dual-plug dimmer with USB charging is going to be perfect for my nightstand lights and two phone chargers.

I sure wish they'd make these with a ground.

I use these types for things like our noise machine, scentsy, string lights, humidifier. I use zigbee bulbs for lamps, but I imagine these work just as well. Maybe better, zigbee bulbs seem to disconnect a lot.

Yes, but none of those things will "dim." I thought he was asking about how a dimmer would work plugged into a wall outlet.

Hey Smarthome folks, I saw they have a no-neutral wire needed dimmer too. I have a hallway light that has no neutral but have always thought these switches needed the neutrals to work. Have you got experience with the success of these new kinds? Do I need to have a certain kind of light bulb or will LED's in a normal ceiling light work? Thanks.

I have not used the non-neutral devices personally, so I cannot speak from personal experience. However, I have spoken to others who have installed the non-neutral devices without any issues. My second-hand understanding is that they work as advertised.

Would be a good buy, but out of stock.

Anyone know if these may come back in stock?

The dimmer module is designed for lamps (which can dim with these devices). The model with ground is an appliance module (on/off only). If the device you want to control is not dimable (e.g. not a light, but something like coffee maker or radio), then the non-dimmer version is more appropriate.

The no-neutral wire dimmers usually require an incandescent bulb load so a small current can flow through the bulb to power the dimmer circuit without lighting the filament.

The Wall Charger piqued my interest. Price is reasonable. However, a closer look at the outputs shows that the USB-C port puts out 60W (which is good), but the USB-A port puts out 7.5W (which is pathetic).

Pass.
