Any reason to get this if I already have the Atom?

EDIT: https://outdoorcrunch.com/proton-lt-vs-atom-lt/ "have one glaring difference: Breathability. Proton LT is noticeably more breathable than the Atom LT "
Keep in mind this is the FL not the LT

Check the reviews and can decide for yourself. People who wear Arcteryx I think want the best.

The reviews both professional and individual for those owning both proton and atom, all speak to how their new go to is not the atom but the proton, although to be fair, they are built for different purposes.

Atom is for idle heat. People complain it warms too much with activity.

Proton is for staying warm yet dumping heat once you're active. That duality is just amazing engineering.

Proton LT is thicker than FL, hence I gave my temperature ratings. FL is plenty warm for me here in 40s to 50s in so cal. Can't imagine wanting a jacket that's any warmer like the Atom for me.

I have them both and the Atom is warmer.
The Proton is very lightweight and thinner, however it has become my favorite lightweight jacket. I absolutely love it. Got mine for less at REI
Correction: I don't have the Proton but the Atom SL, so my comparasion is with the Atom Lt and the Atom SL( Super-light)

How much did you pay at the REI? Tempted to get one, but if REI is cheaper, I don't mind wait a bit...

How's the sizing? I'm usually a medium for Nike stuff but their sizing chart is more small for me...

I shopped this jacket daily from December. The only deal ( I missed ) that beat this was Rei outlet with Black Friday 20% off. Since then I've seen this jacket sell for more than $200 new even on eBay.

I ended up ordering from bergs ski shop which took a month to ship. Quite the hassle and stupendous communications.

Arcteryx direct is safe and legit. But yeah it's still a lot of money

I'm a medium from Nike as well. I like slim fit and Arcteryx is known for the slim fit modern look. Looks amazing in my opinion but Arcteryx has a cult following and I'm guilt of owning too many Arcteryx items.

I've got the Atom LT and agree that it gets warm quickly which isn't always ideal. In for this deal! Great find

I was looking back on how much I paid for my Proton and realized I don't have the Proton after all but the Atom SL. So my comparasion was for the Atom LT and the Atom SL. Paid 136.00 for The Atom SL

Fortunately I live close to an Arcteryx outlet but for comparison, I've purchased several Atom LT hooded jackets for $108 which made great x-mas or b-day presents.
