As a dual max owner that has them on stereo pairing... I think 2 of these nest audios on stereo would sound nearly if not just as good to most people in most situations. I have a 25 ft cathedral ceiling great room that is quite open and large with 2 Max's in it, and unless you consistently play your music at 80% volume you probably won't be able to tell too much of a difference between the max and these (I also have 2 nest audios). The nest audios sound great and should suffice for most people. Wouldn't worry too much about holding out for the max

Think a max will ever go on sale again, or is stock pretty much gone?

I'd like a second max for stereo, but maybe I should just get two of these instead.
