As a dual max owner that has them on stereo pairing... I think 2 of these nest audios on stereo would sound nearly if not just as good to most people in most situations. I have a 25 ft cathedral ceiling great room that is quite open and large with 2 Max's in it, and unless you consistently play your music at 80% volume you probably won't be able to tell too much of a difference between the max and these (I also have 2 nest audios). The nest audios sound great and should suffice for most people. Wouldn't worry too much about holding out for the max

Wow. been looking for this almost bit from google for $180. I have a few chromecast devices, bt want to jump in with more rooms for my speaker groups. Bathroom and Kitchen set!
