Background info:
I bought a used like new S10+ on ebay about 2 years ago. I recall I couldn't unlock the phone because the phone came up as "active on another account". I asked the seller and he said he would contact att to do it. Well let's say time passed and I forgot about it.
All these 2 years...phone works great on my personal att account. Only issue is I cannot unlock it. It's possible the original eBay person still has it on his account for whatever reason.
Now let's say I send this phone that works and has a clean imei number (checked via swappa) to samsung as a trade in.
Will they decline my phone even if it works, it's mint (has been in case and screen protector day1 and it was mint from original ebay person) yet cannot be manually unlocked via the att portal?
Samsung's FAQ states you can trade a phone still being payed but you will obviously need to pay those fees. And if it's leased you can't trade it. But how would I know why I can't unlock my phone from att? I have no clue if the previous ebay seller just is being stubborn and won't remove it from their account or maybe they are still paying it off? I doubt it since it's been 2 years. Isn't a normal phone plan like 24 months‽
Please advise if possible. Much thanks!
Even though order is delayed but it started shipping, so i was able to submit PM request 02/17.
