They rarely have deals on the 1/2" Bare tool only. If they do it's used/refurbed for $68 ish from DTO. Or you can try fleabay
Something broke on my original drill (chuck broke?) but it was outside of the warranty period so they gave me a part number that was 4/5ths the price of a new drill.
If you run both 3/8 and 1/2, you need redundant sockets, or an adapter that will: 1. Increase the functional length of the tool, which won't let you in to tight spots, and 2. Sap energy from the tool making it less effective.
So as I said, just get the half and be done with it.

I am pretty sure this is the poster who is pissed this comes up every other week and just shits on the deal because they can't find a use for the 3/8. If YOU only take tires on and off that's your deal. For everyone else who would turn bolts elsewhere on their car, install mounts, or any freaking thing else that requires smaller sockets, they will use the 3/8th. FFS the most used electric ratchet is a 3/8th but nooooo just the big bertha 1/2 on every damn thing because 3/8th is for suckers huh?
Just go away since you ahve no 3/8 sockets and can't fathom a use for a 3/8th wrench appearently. For all of us with 3/8th sockets, we will use the impact to just plain make life easier. Before you go on about swapping sockets or having duplicates, No one working on vehicles even lightly does not already have duplicates AND SWITCHING SOCKETS IS NORMAL WHEN WOKRING ON ANYTHING WITH MULTIPLE BOLTS!!!!
I went to the closest service center (Home Depot). They took a $20 diagnosis fee that is refundable after your device is repaired and deemed under warranty.
I waited about 5 days and received a call that the gear box had been replaced by the tech at HD.
I drove it, picked it up and tested it. Signed off and was refunded my $20.
Overall pretty easy process except for the closest service center is 50 mins from me. Not all HD's are service centers.
