I remember in another thread that someone suggested buying an extended warranty on all dehumidifiers. Anyone have experience with the Geek Squad protection plans?

Bought the extended warranty from HD last year on the same thing. If it's similar, the "extended" warranty kicks in after the manufacturing warranty expires. then if it breaks you get a $150 giftcard.

You and me both! Checking daily.
Anybody know if this unit can be bought in store? I wanted to get it today, and seems like that may be impossible.

Do you know of any model at any cost that has a pump? I would like that so I can put this with my AC and lift it a foot into the condensate drain for that.

I have this model in a poolhouse that gets pretty humid and I set it on the fridge and dropped it into a saddle into the sink drain. Works pretty well.

It is rather loud and I have my home automation check humidity levels and room presence before it runs. It does remove humidity pretty quick though!

I did the 4 year extended warranty for 45.00. Still makes it less than the 220.00 normal price and worse case scenario, it breaks in 4 years and they give me a 150.00 gift card for it.

According to what I read from geek squad warranty, it seems that they would "fix" it rather than giving a gift card?

I would not mind that.
I just don't think I have ever seen a Geek with Air Conditioning and Refrigeration tools.
Who knows? Maybe they do carry refrigerant in the back of the Beetle.
