One thing I noticed on the fine print was that the oil sold in packs do not qualify for the rebate.

Thanks for the warning.

Similarly, my son told me that the COVID vaccine has a microchip in it so the government will be able to track us and control our brains even more than they already do. Not going to do that one either. Whew.

Now have to buy 2 of the 5quarts to receive gift card. Not as slick as it once was.

Since my vehicle takes 5w-30, I was hoping Ultra Platinum would drop in price and it did, currently ~$25 on Amazon for 5 quarts. Grabbed 2. Thanks!

Personally I love the Pennzoil deals, as depending on the type of car you have they can be extremely lucrative.

For Euro car owners, Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5w40 is rebranded Shell Helix from overseas, top quality, and PP Euro since it can only be found in 1qt sizes is by default $9.99/qt.

Also the filter for certain Euro cars can be upwards of ~$30 alone. (If you want an OE, or OE manufactured filter.

So for $33.99 out the door at advanced auto you can get 5qts of Pennzoil Platinum of any variety and sku, plus a Purolator Boss filter. Purolator owns Mann+Hummel which is the OE manufacture of most filters for Euro cars. Their Boss line is the highest quality filter line and for euro cars are repacked OE filters from Germany.

In my cars case, the filter on it's on sells for $20.99.

So I always get in on the $33.99 deal at AAP because it saves significant money for my situation. And then stack it with the Shell rebate promos when available.

For a true "Deal" there is a group of people who buy an Oil Change Kit (Filter + Oil) from FCPEuro one time, and just drain in back into the original bottle at the end of its service life, collect the filter, and send it in for a "Free Warranty Exchange" and FCP Allows this in their terms.

Very true.

Also though, why I'm leery when buying used vehicles, because I do not know the history or what fluids or what interval.

If anyone finds a qualified retailer that sells 5qt jugs of the 5w40 euro, please share. Does not seem to exist. Best price I can find is the 1 qt's @ $10 each, which is definitely not a deal. Better off getting a 5 qt of Liqui Moly for $40 w/ no rebate.

how do you know?
it's at the same spot on the dipstick every time I check it (including when I'm about to do an oil change), as it was when I did the last change.

Yeah, I can't even find a listing/part no. for a 5qt jug of 5W-40 Euro at all. Doesn't seem like they actually make it in a 5qt jug?

Agree but it is what it is. I buy, own, and sell a few well used cars a year. Between my son and I we probably have at least 10 cars in various condition with over 150K miles and one with 320K that I still drive and tow with it frequently. Oil history although important is usually way lower on the list of overall neglect and issues. I've never had a car that life was ended because of the oil choice or change interval. The only oil issues that I can ever remember that came up was:
A 93 Bronco with a 351W and 150k that had an idle knock (which 20w50 helped) but it had that same knock for the 20K miles we had it and then sold. Can't say it was an oil choice or change issue though but I've had 302/351 with many more miles without knocking so...
Another was a 98 Prism/Corolla with a 1.8L that burned about 1qt every 800 miles. Read about that and was a known issue for those engines regardless of oil and change history. Only risk was running dry regardless of what you ended up putting in it and to be honest using feed and bleed you'd probably never have to change the oil.
The third was an Elantra that catastrophically lost the front main seal. It was fixed under warranty but again, not an oil issue itself.
I've had numerous transmission issues, overcome by rust, general overall not worth fixing but runs and moves, internal issues like connecting rod failures, computer failure, timing chain/belts etc and the most common one is cooling/head gaskets/overheating and all that goes along with that. In my experience those issues happen exponentially more often than the oil. I'd buy a car in great condition with a blown engine long before I'd buy a car in terrible shape with a great engine unless I'm just looking for an engine Smilie

Why are there no Shell stations for me to use the gift card in upstate NY? There's not a single station at all, but there are Shell stations all around the border in the surrounding states.

My submissions appeared to go through ok, but I'd didn't receive any confirmation email or anything. Is that normal?

Also, when I go to the status page, it doesn't find anything when I enter my info. Did others' submission appear in the status right away?

Can anyone comment on either confirmation emails or the status check?

Thanks.

I submitted the rebate. But I have not received an email confirmation for two days. AND I closed the browser before saving the screenshot. Is this common? Am I going to receive an email after a while? Thanks.

Why would anyone shop at ACE? Everything in that store is more expensive than it's competitors.

I received my shipment from Walmart today, and there was no packing list or receipt inside. What should I use to submit the rebate?

Nice easy online rebate with no need to mail physical copies of anything. THANK GOD!

It's almost a bogo deal, which isn't bad because my Expedition takes 6 quarts. Thanks OP.
