We're making changes to how Free users access LastPass across device types. LastPass offers access across two device types – computers (including all browsers running on desktops and laptops) or mobile devices (including mobile phones, smart watches, and tablets). Starting March 16th, 2021, LastPass Free will only include access on unlimited devices of one type

$27/year is the discounted rate? Yeah, fark you, LastPass.
Don't get me wrong, it's well-made and useful, and I don't mind supporting SaaS with money. I paid for it back before they opened it up to free for all devices. That was $12/year, and I think $12-15 is a fair price for a very limited purpose but very useful piece of cloud-connected software.

I'll definitely be looking at my other options now, including the cheaper paid ones. One of the companies I work for blocks LastPass completely (for silly reasons), but they don't block all password manager sites. So this might even be the kick in the pants I needed to move to one I can access from every network/VPN/proxy I use.

(EDIT: Does Slickdeals have a new mommy filter for language now, or have I just been behaving myself better than I thought?)

It's actually $3/mo for existing customers

didn't Roboform hold their pricing for customers that were Already on AutoRenew ? That was a sneaky reward..

Switched from Lastpass to Bitwarden (local host) about a year ago and never looked back. As with any change, interface takes some getting used to but its straightforward to get your existing passwords transferred. Works well on all my devices and browsers.

Took me 10 minutes to setup bitwarden/2fa and import my lastpass info. Pretty painless.

Figured I'd check out the competition before I think about paying their higher rates.

I just saw this popup in the LastPass tool. It is probably for the better, as I never understood how they made their money in the first place.

Enjoy!

bit warden has the option to host the database locally, I'm hosting mine on a RPI, so that will always be free.
I'm assuming RPI = Raspberry Pi? How does that work?

What would happen if the RPI takes a dump and is unrecoverable?

Just moved to Bitwarden as well. I've been on LP for many years, but the price is too high now.

BW premium is $10 a year. If you think that's a reasonable price (I do) and want to support a reasonable price, consider paying for it.

Like many of you, been a LastPass user for years and was a paying subscriber until they made Premium essentially redundant. Loved the ease of access to switch between computer, my Android phone, and iPad. But man, $27 a year seems like a lot, especially since that's a discounted rate and it was 1/2 or 1/3 (at full price) just a couple of years ago! Trying out Bitwarden now.

Years back, LastPass used to require a premium subscription to use it at all on mobile devices. I was surprised when they starting allowing mobile device use for free, as it removed a major reason to subscribe. But it was also $12/year back then. I'd still be a paying customer if they hadn't tripled the price.
That was just a few years ago, so they're basically reverting to the way that it was, right? Did they really allow one mobile device back then in addition to unlimited desktop? I think it might have been none, but I'm hazy on this now.

Can't we just setup a second account and copy all the passwords from the main account? Main account would be set for mobile use. Second account set for computer use. Downside would be when you change a pw you'd have to change it on both accounts.

I just got this message as well.
Is there any alternative?
This is a very short notice.
That is one of the main features why I use LastPass.

I'm with you guys. $27 a year feels steep for a password manager... even though LastPass has been incredibly useful. It feels like it should be at most $15, and I'd have no issues paying it. Even a 1 time discount to get the free members to convert would have made me upgrade my LastPass account.

I just downloaded BitWarden on my phone and my computer (chrome extension). So far, so good! And if I'd like to support BitWarden (and gain extra features) it's $10 a year... which is what LastPass should have asked for. I exported my passwords easily into BitWarden. Hoping the transition is smooth!
