We're making changes to how Free users access LastPass across device types. LastPass offers access across two device types – computers (including all browsers running on desktops and laptops) or mobile devices (including mobile phones, smart watches, and tablets). Starting March 16th, 2021, LastPass Free will only include access on unlimited devices of one type

Years back, LastPass used to require a premium subscription to use it at all on mobile devices. I was surprised when they starting allowing mobile device use for free, as it removed a major reason to subscribe. But it was also $12/year back then. I'd still be a paying customer if they hadn't tripled the price.
Yep, remember that. I just use it on a mobile browser and it always worked for free. The app is what wouldn't work, if I remember right.

I've been a paying lastpass user for over a decade, before logmein acquired them. I picked up several more years from a previous front page deal.

The service is still good, but I've noticed it doesn't fill out forms as well as it used to and auto sorted my accounts a couple years ago and I had to go and fix it.

My most recent gripe is that they display ads alongside their browser extensions even though I'm a paying user. I've complained more than once, and they don't seem to care.

Is it safe and secure to have that data on Google Drive?

For those of you who switched from LastPass to bitwarden, how'd you find it? How is the integration, ease of use, etc. finally got my parents using LastPass (if I'm switching, I need something easier to use)

This is the only reason I used them. Looking for a new service now.

If I can't use on mobile and PC together, I am through with them.

I'm a PC user with Apple mobile devices, so I will have to look into a free way to merge password wallets (because icloud keychain only works in certain browsers, etc, hence the need for a password manager to begin with, all these services block the others - ugh).

I won't pay LastPass due to the short notice plus the fact they won't grandfather existing accounts. Out of spite.

I'm fine paying if they fix all the damn bugs.

Any word on if premium software is better than free?

I just got this message as well.
Is there any alternative?
This is a very short notice.
That is one of the main features why I use LastPass.

I may be in the minority here, but I feel like its a good step. I never understood how they made money, and that made me a little nervous. I love their product, and (quite frankly) my wife would kill me if we switched to something else since she already hates using LastPass lol.

I switched to bitwarden over 1 year ago. Couldn't be happier. using the free tier, works great with chrome & edge browser (on mac and Windows), works well on Android. I don't use iOS so no idea about how well it works there.

How easy was to move passwords to Bitearden? Where is that info stored?

I'm going to be trying out BitWarden--I've been looking for an excuse to give it a try for a while, and this was the kick I needed. LastPass's Android app has been the victim of neglect for a long time, but I've heard BitWarden's is good. Export from LastPass to BitWarden is easy.

BitWarden has a very capable free version and you can self-host the server if you are super cheap but want the premium features. The funny thing? I would never pay for LastPass, but since BitWarden is an "open source but pay if you want to use their cloud-hosting" model, I'll probably spring for the family BitWarden membership to support the devs.

I had no problem paying $12 a year for it, might even have done $24 for one year. But $36 was ridiculous, especially when there was nothing I needed that wasn't in the free version.

And I have loads of free money sitting in my Google Play account as a result of competing surveys in Google Opinion Rewards, so it doesn't even cost me anything in real money. Maybe I will pay for one year and then examine Bitwarden as a replacement.

This is exactly my response. I had to double check that this wasn't my post. I think they lost a lot of paying customers back then

Simple, export to xml from lastpass, import in bitwarden. You'll have to use desktop interface on both though to do that

I find it easy to use, but that's subjective. With bitwarden you have two storage options: you can use their cloud storage, or your own server setup to store. Both options are free and use the same open source encryption algorithm.

Sigh. Knew this would happen eventually.

Oh well, time to see what Bitwarden is all about now since (like many others I'm sure) I use both device types. I'd say Lastpass lost me as a user, but there probably isn't any love lost there anyway since I was only ever on the free tier...
agree, I just signed up with bitwarden (got premium at $1) and imported my data from LastPass. Time to say goodbye to Lastpass.
