I have this laptop. While people will argue weaker GPU, it's a great laptop. Very well built and handles many tasks very well. For a 2 in 1 you won't find better for the price. If you do not need a 2 in 1, then yes it's only average.

Wow what an unlikely pairing - Tigerlake + GTX1650.

I have the Lenovo Yoga C940 with the 1650 and it runs games at low/mid settings... plenty for those who are "dabbling". My biggest gripe is the battery life - 6hrs at most.

This ASUS should have great performance (integrated graphics are nice) and battery life with the discrete card turned off...

It is nicely equipped and not a bad price but it is really not a Zenbook or looks like a Zenbook from a couple of generations ago (I mean the case and build). It is thick and probably weighs 4.0+lbs (don't see the weight in specs). It is also most likely not an IPS screen.

I believe the Q series are custom configured to retailer specs for a specific price point. These look like upgraded innards fit into an old case for Best Buy.

Not good enough for gaming, an overkill for media/web consumption. Would probably be nice for development or home studio, web design with photoshopping, etc., needs.

The Q series I have had are great value but seem to fall apart very quickly physically.

If you need the spec, check here:
https://www.asus.com/us/2-in-1-PC...ech-Specs/

This Q series Laptops are BestBuy specific models only and no other sellers sell them in USA. And a lot of people are complaining that the Graphics card is not good for gaming. Well, so is the GPU in Dell XPS 15 2020 model which costs at least $600 more than this. These Laptops are not gaming laptop but portable powerhouse for productivity and creative work and the GPU is there mainly for providing GPU acceleration in supported workloads like Adobe Premiere, Sony VEGAS Pro etc.
This has one hell of specs for the price: -
2X Thunderbolt 4 Port
96 WHr 6 Cell Battery
IR Webcam with Windows Hello

All the comparable Tiger Lake 15.6" Ultrabooks at this price, may be marginally lighter but comes with mostly Intel XE Integrated Graphics, sub 60 WHr battery and just Type-C Gen 2 Port without TB4.

I won't disagree with most of the above for the use case which I have mentioned in my post.

However, they all have compromises at these price levels and it depends on what compromises are important or not to each person. For example, the 1650ti on this one

https://www.newegg.com/star-black...6834235548

for the same price might be a better trade-off for some who are not going to use a 4lb+ laptop as a flip tablet.

Personally, an IPS screen, sufficient brightness, keyboard back lighting, sub 4lb weight (lower the better), thin profile, i5 or i7, 16GB memory, 2 SSD slots, USB-C and HDMI ports would be minimum at a sub $1000 price. Rest are nice to have. From that perspective, I don't find this price very attractive although it has a nice set of features.

These laptops are really desktop replacements for desk use than a portable, luggable one. Certainly not for gaming but that is not a strike. Not all laptops need to be for gaming.

Not really a thin and light laptop. So this is a traditional laptop with a GPU. It is better than any iGPU out there, but not enough to be worth $900. 1650 Max-Q is weaker than 1650, I see a few 1660 or even 2060 refurb going for $700. So not really a deal.

I think you are completely missing the point of this laptop. Its a touch and stylus active screened laptop with good color gamut aimed at designers. it's not a gaming laptop. this is a pretty solid price for something like this.

Very well said. Especially when the 11th gen GPUs are much improved. And my experience with dual GPU and the Nvidia hybrid has never been good. There is always some sort of compromise or bugs and glitces (like the Nvidia GPU drawing power when it was not supposed to).
In the past, getting dedictaed GPU for office macine was necessary to drive 2-3 external monitors but that is no longer the case.

Seems like one heck of a deal; even without the GPU, i think the price would be competitive. Reminds me a lot of the VivoBook TP470EZ i own, also a heavier, thicker 1165G7 + GPU

Anyone know how bright the screen is? How many nits? Don't see that in any of the specs or the fact sheet.

Thank you for being a voice of reason. As someone that does digital art, and PC gaming, this form factor interests me.
