I know when I set up for bench press in my cage, the top of the bench extends past the rear uprights.

The vertical part of the lat attachment sits > 20" past the bottom stability bar.
You could build a belt squat platform with a pulley to change the direction of the pull to be vertical. However, since this uses 2 pulleys as it is, you're already getting a 1:2 power ratio. This means if you load it with 200 lbs, you're really only pulling at 100 lbs of force.
I recently purchased both the cage and the lat pulldown kit about a month ago. Been pretty impressed with it from a build perspective. My wife and I and our 3 teenagers work out on it 3x a week so we're putting some miles on it for sure. Some comments from me are below, many are just echoes from previous posters:
1. Cage definitely has more depth to it with the pulley system. If you have a tight area you might be SOL
2. Standard (1") weights on pulley system are kind of a bummer but it is what it is
3. Cage is sturdy as all get out, and the pulley system also seems really well built.
4. You'll likely want to get some 3rd party accessories like a pull-down rope, weight tree (if you don't already have one)
5. I'm not super tall (5'7") so the pull up rig on top of the cage and the lat pull down bar/angle layout works perfectly
Other than that - ultimately you're going to be spending > $500 all in for the cage and the lat system. Another poster mentioned that they'd rather spend the money for a gym sub, honestly it just depends on what your schedule allows, your comfort level with being around other humans, and the total number of folks using the cage.
I have the progear cage but from what I read it is the same setup

The weight plates go on standard weight sleeves. I'm sure you can put Olympic weight plates on it like a previous commenter mentioned, but it would be really noisy. I got some Olympic adapter sleeves for $15 shipped (each, you had to buy 2) so that I can just use my Olympic plates. The low lat bar attachment is functional, but given time, the attachment point will eventually wear thin and break, I imagine. There's no bearing, and the bar is hollow.
My biggest problem with the lat attachment is the fact that it does stick so far out the back. I have limited space in my garage, so this reduces my usable space even more. One side benefit of this is that it stabilizes the rack, and will probably allow you to set up for bench or squat on the outside of the rack if you want to live dangerously.
The rack is a good budget starter rack. The uprights are 2"x2" with 1" pin holes. This makes it harder to find accessories, as most of the good ones are designed for 3"x3" uprights with 1" pin holes. Do yourself a favor, and get a roll of UHMW tape to put on the included "j-hooks" so they don't scratch up your bar. Better yet, buy yourself a real j-hook set with UHMW plastic protectors, and a longer backing. The paint scratches off very easily.
Finally, I took off the pin safeties, and bought a set of Titan Fitness X-2 safety straps. These are amazing! They are stronger than the included safeties, and will not damage your bar. They are also more adjustable, so that you can get the safeties at just the right height.
