Yes, you can. It's the only way to use the safeties. You take off that bar with the padded foam rolls if you're going to bench.
Thanks. I was actually more worried about the center upright and the lower pulley. The pictures don't offer a great perspective of how much "head space" you would have with the whole assembly mounted.
I know when I set up for bench press in my cage, the top of the bench extends past the rear uprights.

Any way you can adapt this to an exercise similar to a leg press without putting too much pressure on back?

The lat attachment won't affect bench placement any more than the existing setup. The bottom stability bar almost blocks my bench, but not really. The bottom stability bar is at the same level as the bottom of the lower pulley.

The vertical part of the lat attachment sits > 20" past the bottom stability bar.

You can get the Spud Inc. Belt Squat Belt and a land mine attachment. The low lat would have more of a horizontal force than vertical.

You could build a belt squat platform with a pulley to change the direction of the pull to be vertical. However, since this uses 2 pulleys as it is, you're already getting a 1:2 power ratio. This means if you load it with 200 lbs, you're really only pulling at 100 lbs of force.

My dos pesos:

I recently purchased both the cage and the lat pulldown kit about a month ago. Been pretty impressed with it from a build perspective. My wife and I and our 3 teenagers work out on it 3x a week so we're putting some miles on it for sure. Some comments from me are below, many are just echoes from previous posters:

1. Cage definitely has more depth to it with the pulley system. If you have a tight area you might be SOL
2. Standard (1") weights on pulley system are kind of a bummer but it is what it is
3. Cage is sturdy as all get out, and the pulley system also seems really well built.
4. You'll likely want to get some 3rd party accessories like a pull-down rope, weight tree (if you don't already have one)
5. I'm not super tall (5'7") so the pull up rig on top of the cage and the lat pull down bar/angle layout works perfectly

Other than that - ultimately you're going to be spending > $500 all in for the cage and the lat system. Another poster mentioned that they'd rather spend the money for a gym sub, honestly it just depends on what your schedule allows, your comfort level with being around other humans, and the total number of folks using the cage.

This has a lower pulley too. There's a lot more that you can do with an upper pulley than just lat pulldowns too.
Ya, its also great for tricep pull downs and arm curls, definitely a nice add on.

I have the Progear 1600 cage and it's the same as the FitnessReality. I got my lat pulldown delivered yesterday and installed it on my Progear cage last night and it fits fine.

I am curious, I thought that doing pull ups is far superior to lat pull downs.
They complement each other. I start back days with pull ups but once I'm gassed on pull ups I'll follow it up with lat pulls. High time under tension and concentrating on scapular retraction to create a better mind to muscle connection.

If this lat system is 2 pulley and reduces weight amount more than a 1 pulley system, why not get one of those cheaper 1 pulley systems that attach to the front of the cage? I'm wondering what the difference is and is it the cage lat system worth the extra $200+

I couldn't imagine having this in my gym. I'd rather pay up and getting of real quality.

I have this rack and lat attachment. My $.02: The rack is great, and the lat attachment is great. If I had to do it again, I probably wouldn't buy the lat attachment.

The weight plates go on standard weight sleeves. I'm sure you can put Olympic weight plates on it like a previous commenter mentioned, but it would be really noisy. I got some Olympic adapter sleeves for $15 shipped (each, you had to buy 2) so that I can just use my Olympic plates. The low lat bar attachment is functional, but given time, the attachment point will eventually wear thin and break, I imagine. There's no bearing, and the bar is hollow.

My biggest problem with the lat attachment is the fact that it does stick so far out the back. I have limited space in my garage, so this reduces my usable space even more. One side benefit of this is that it stabilizes the rack, and will probably allow you to set up for bench or squat on the outside of the rack if you want to live dangerously.

The rack is a good budget starter rack. The uprights are 2"x2" with 1" pin holes. This makes it harder to find accessories, as most of the good ones are designed for 3"x3" uprights with 1" pin holes. Do yourself a favor, and get a roll of UHMW tape to put on the included "j-hooks" so they don't scratch up your bar. Better yet, buy yourself a real j-hook set with UHMW plastic protectors, and a longer backing. The paint scratches off very easily.

Finally, I took off the pin safeties, and bought a set of Titan Fitness X-2 safety straps. These are amazing! They are stronger than the included safeties, and will not damage your bar. They are also more adjustable, so that you can get the safeties at just the right height.
I just got the rack last week and agree that it could use better j-hooks than those included. Any suggestions? I've been looking but not sure which one to pull the trigger on.
