1st, Unlock code or not it is not the same as a factory unlock phone, unless you can change the phone firmware to an unlock retail version
2nd, Metro Phones uses unlock software, there are no codes. Have you actually done an unlock with a code? Did you actually get the phone unlock?
"Ordered and unlock code for $11. I can post back if anybody wants to know how it goes." Bro, again, I encourage you to read things fully.

Yes, I have used unlock codes many times before.

please feel free to p.m. me with any other questions so we don't waste everybody's space with this crap.

I read you are comparing a lock phone with an unlock phone. Hench my point. IF or when you get phone unlock then you can come back and make an argument. Then I will support your view that the Metro Phone deal is a better one. Until then it is speculation on your part

for someone like me who doesn't want to switch carriers this still sounds like a good deal if your willing to wait 2 months to use your own phone number and different carrier. you must buy a number that can be ported from ebay then get the cheapest plan and not use the service then cancel.

based on my math (correct me if i'm wrong):

+$49 fi credit
+$20 referral credit
-$49 phone purchase
-$35 for 2 months (2 line plan)
-$11 buy a phone number to port on ebay

total cost: $26 per phone for 4.8 months of service (with FI credit) then cancel or $75 without the Fi credit and cancel in 2 months

make sure not to pull the sim card out until day 61 or you get charged the full price of the phone.
Not understanding what you mean by 4.8 months of service, but only paying for 2 months of service.

I am only interesting in getting a couple phones and don't care about using the Fi service. For someone like me, wouldn't it be best to cancel on day 61 in order to not pay for unnecessary months of extra service?

The 4.8 months is with Fi credit and 2 months is without Fi credit. Either way the total cost of the phone and the service is $75 its just a matter of are you willing to fight with google for the Fi credit or not. in the end your paying $75 no matter what.

If I buy the phone and activate it, then swap the sim with an ATT sim (and not use the Google FI sim in another phone) but keep paying for required amount of time , will the rebate / bill credit be void ?

Up to 4 free data-only lines if you have an unlimited data plan. (or pay per GB otherwise). Good international service as well. I also think it's a little more secure than some other MVNOs since I have 2FA on my google account. But I wish it were cheaper, of course.
4 free data only lines meaning you can power your say 4 Google Voice numbers on 4 separate phones if you have the unlimited plan?

After you stay with Google Fi for 60 days and you get the credits for the price of the phone, do you have to stay on Fi to use up the credits? Or can you cash out the credits and cancel the service after 60 days?

From what I read I can't figure out the answer to my question

yes. in my expierence with Fi. once you activate the Fi sim with the Fi phone, you can remove the Fi sim and keep it inside the drawer (do not use on another phone). The Fi phone can be used with other providers sim.

Don't you have to keep the Fi SIM in the Moto phone though for at least 60 continuous days while paying for the service or else Google claws back the $200 that the phone was discounted for?

You're not the only one confused. Heck the poster 2007 said they purchased with a checkout price of $0.00. So how long do they have to stay to keep it $0.00 and not get a charge back? If they cancel after 61 days will they get partially dinged?

Can the phone number that needs to be ported in come from any service provider like T-Mobile or Sprint? What information associated to the phone number does Google require to do the port in (e.g. account number, zip code, last 4 digits of SS #, etc...)? I think I'm going to have to buy one off ebay or elsewhere so want to make sure I can get all the necessary info for it.

Also, my Google account already has a phone number on it that I use for Google Voice and I don't want this to be affected. Is it ok to still use my Google account to order the Fi phone/plan or should I create a new Google account just for this FI promo?

locked or unlocked? if unlocked it's a very good deal for an ok phone. i paid $220+tx when it came out. i wouldn't mind one more for backup.

Fi phones are unlocked. Expect $49 plus 1 or 2 months of service.
