Hi everyone,
This is a PSA since I've been seeing some deals about BBVA bank account opening bonus, and wanted everyone to be careful and protect their assets.
I opened up a BBVA Select card two months ago because the offer was too great to pass: 1k bonus after 4k spend. Fast forward, I found several fraudulent charges on 2/16 using a card reader called SUMUP out of Brazil. I live in Ca, and I was surprised this went through. BBVA does not have any live agents to talk to after hours. When I called the next day, the agent said I would have to wait until it has been posted to dispute.
Two days later, my friend that told me about the card was now hit with the same exact fraud charge as well. I went to DOC forum, and noticed dozens upon dozens of others also commented about fraud charges from the same place.... so yeah if you read this post and have a BBVA card of any kind, I suggest you check your activity and TURN OFF your card for now even if you don't have any fraud charges. I believe the bank might've got info breached.
If you don't have an account with them but planning to do so, I'd say think twice first!

I called CS rep this morning, and bank is very incompetent. With this scale of breach, the rep still had no idea and said the higher-ups did not inform him of any breach.
I asked him I'm based in Cali, so how did a purchase in Brazil authorized? He said, "Hmm that's weird."
