Some games require quick movement of the mouse. Based on this and the surface below the mousepad, the pad can shift, requiring you to move it back into place, potentially while playing a game where distraction can get you "killed". Having a larger pad that's also under the keyboard can stop shifting.

You also don't have to worry about going over the edge of the pad with these quick movements when its bigger.

It can help prevent scratches on the desk surface from the keyboard.

It can be a matter of style and a way to customize your gaming rig.

These are nice mouse pads and worth it on sale. Best part is it is one of the few Corsair products that doesn't require you to install their awful iCue software.

there's a handful of people who use this pad for other things other than a mousepad to use as a soft surface for other object.

There are others who buy the cheaper ones that are around 12 dollars to roll up and use as iintermediate cushions between things when storing, like glass panels etc.

I paid $14.99 for mine two years ago, it's held up well. Agreed it is ugly looking.

Yea I also bought one of these a couple years ago and it looks and feels brand new. No problems. Highly recommend.

Can someone explain to me why anyone would want their keyboard to be on the mouse pad? I don't get it.
i personally like big mousepads, and when i game, i tend to move my keyboard more to the left so that my right arm feels more natural and has more room to move. so instead of moving both my keyboard and a large mousepad each time i game, i just have one of these long mousepads and don't have to worry about shifting the mousepad. i just move the keyboard to the left and i'm good to go.

Other than the dimensions and most playmats not having a stitched edge, they're the same material.

I don't see any decent ones for under $14 on Amazon though.

If you don't care about the design or the brand, just search "xxxl mousepad" and you'll find plenty of cheap competitors.

This one is identical, but without the design and $2 cheaper: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B082TLVLDC/

This slightly smaller one is currently $8 with coupon: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B014CP231W/

Lol, no kidding.

I have 2, thinking about getting a third, I loaned one to my daughter, and I need to wash the one I have, I think i should get one just to swap out.
How does one wash a mouse pad like this? I imagine a fraying mess of a mouse pad after you wash it.

Well, yeah, you could also use a piece of paper taped to your desk.

I think there are definitely non branded options that are less. I'm just not one to know the quality. I have had a few aukey ones and stuff that seem fine that are oversized, costs about 4-5 dollars less.

I generally just hand wash them, but I know people do through them into the washing machine cold water with air dry afterwards.

The end of the mouse pad has reinforced stitching.

You can get something like this for like 5-6 dollars, but the edges are not reinforced and I've owned ones similiar, like the steelseries qck / qck+ which tend to easily get damage on the edges.

It also acts as a thin wrist pad. I have had pain on my palms after long, long sessions(5+ hours) on the computer.
Pain in the palms of your hands after "long long sessions" sounds like an entirely different problem. JK 🤣

Support the PC enthusiast community and purchase a Gamers Nexus modmat (instead of supporting a company who sells $35 fans)!

Steve does a tremendous amount for the PC community including holding companies accountable when they are disingenuous (ahem..NZXT).
