If you are a "new" customer, you need to select a min. $60 monthly plan, but downgrade to $30 or other monthly plan once you receive the phone. Since this is a prepaid plan phone there is no commitment to any long term plan. You can cancel your monthly plan anytime. But 6 month service requirement is needed to unlock the phone.

Not saying it is a bad deal, but the net cost is more like $309 + $5 with 3 months of services.

The 2 months of services and $25 referral is only useful if you are planning to unlock with 6 months of services or stay with Cricket.

For people who don't plan to unlock the phone, Tracfone/Total Wireless/Simple Mobile has the phone cheaper.

Am I missing something? I see the phone listed for $349.99 on both the Total Wireless & Simple Mobile websites.

You get a 25% off coupon on phones if you sign up for them email newsletter. If you don't want to give them your main email address, you can always make get a new email address for that. Cheapest plan you can get from Tracfone is $25 I think. So, total cost should be around $287.5 + tax. Also, you can check CB sites for additional saving.

Edit: They probably put new restrictions on the coupon. Checked the Simple Mobile and Tracfone just now. it seems like they excluded iPhone XR from the coupon now. Funny enough, the code is working for iPhone 11 (gives $100 off)

20% off code TAXTIME is working but it will only be $5 cheaper than Cricket. Though, you won't need to port in a number and you can sign up for Tracfone's reward program to get a few more months of service for free if you want.

he is probably including the cost to unlock it
I looked for the same and can't find it under $250.

I remember a few months ago I purchased an XR from one of those prepaid companies for around $250 with tax. used rsim and it works for my nephew with tmobile service.

edit: never mind, just saw the 25% code

Is there a workaround if I have the 4 lines for $100 account on Cricket? There is a grandfather rule about no new lines or dropped lines to maintain the price?

Not bad especially if you refer your other lines waiting for unlock, 299 for 128GB is good option too for those who need more space.

Order one or two new phones with a new account with port-in numbers ( I have a couple of numbers from Visible, $5 AGC each, PM if needed). Just swap the new phones to your current plan. Just let the new account die.

Another perk is total wireless IMO has been a much better MVNO and offers better speeds with reliable Verizon service. Not sure what service provider some of the Tracfone's run on. Even though they are the same company I would imagine they have contracts with a couple carriers.

I'm looking into this as well as we are on the old 5 lines for $100 on Cricket. I think we need to get a new number elsewhere, like maybe Ting for $10, port that number in for the porting number discount, then go through the steps above? I have an old unlocked cell phone around that I'd put into the "new" pre-paid account for the month before cancelling.

I have a couple of Visible numbers which can be used to port in for this deal. Looking for $5 AGC each. PM if interested

If you are already in Cricket over 6-months then new customer / port-in price may apply.

Yes. I recall reading that making any changes to 5 for $100 would mess up with your plan charges. So, better to open a new account and swap the phones and let the new account die. Don't risk your existing promo.

Have you had success with this? I haven't got a promo price on a phone with cricket in almost 3 years. I assume you have to call customer service (as opposed to in-store)?
