I'd say the big reason is that these are one use bags. You seal it with included stickers (with some fun messages on them) and Once you take the sandwich out, you don't really ever reseal the bag, so what's the point of a zip lock bag? We used these for years when my kids were going to school with bag lunches, and they never had an issue with them. I think we just need to change our mindset when it comes to single use plastics. If you can go without using plastics, just do it. there's no downside, unless you're taking sandwiches kayaking and need a fully sealed bag. That said, we eventually opted for reusable plastic hard containers that lasted for years.... Is buying these going to save the planet from certain disaster? No. Is it a good idea to be cognizant of your plastic use on a daily basis and thus change consumer image through free trade choice? Yes.
That's sort of a "Other than that, how was the play, Mrs Lincoln?" comment. The environmental friendliness (real or perceived) is much the point.

In any case, you can safely microwave in these, and certain things that would stick to plastic would not stick here.
If we really want to get serious about the environment, how about not buying disposable and by reusable sandwich bags? Ikea has them for CHEAP

Why over the ziplock ?
Because these breath a bit. They keep things fresher without going moldly as fast.
Just like a good butcher or cheese shop will use.
And ever hear of endocrine disrupters in plastic ?

Paraffin wax is also a petroleum product. Parchment for the win!

These bags are unmatched for rewarming Arby's Beef and Cheddar sandwiches in the micro Autumn Enough said.
And I refuse to listen Nono2 to anything bad about them. In for 4 at $2.19 each. FYI, there is a limit of 6.

Begs the question of why you often have Arby's Beef & Cheddar sandwiches in the house that need rewarming. Confused

I'm hoping that this doesn't contain BPA or BPS like plastic bags. I don't want to give my kids synthetic estrogen.

Wax paper will make the slide very fast! Not be recommended for those under 6 years.

Nevermind the environment and what not for a moment. Functionally speaking, is there any reason to get these over sandwich ziploc?
Caramel apples.... And, a good fire starter. Use for collecting leaves... place leaf in bag and seal with an iron!

Is there another use for a plastic bag that we don't know about?

Really worried about the environment with single use items!?? Give me a break. Go buy a damn sandwich sized tupaware and use it everyday for the rest of your life.
Or get a nice glass one and avoid plastic altogether.
