It's a great deal on an excellent forged knife, there's no denying that. I just want people to be aware that 5 inches is not as practical or comfortable as 7 inches on a Nakiri

Well, I'd argue it's not "too small," and actually a Nakiri can actually be "too large." It's recommended that Nakiri knife blades not be any longer than 7 inches. You can certainly buy a 7 inch Wusthof or Shun if that's what you want, but for comparison sake, a 6.5 inch Shun Nakiri sells for $155.

Sure, I'm not disagreeing it's on the smaller side for a traditional Nakiri, but I also wanted to point out that for somebody considering buying one, it's only slightly smaller than the more traditional (and much more expensive) high end brand 6.5 - 7 inch versions. I thought about buying one, myself, but I have an extra large knife block - and it's almost full, as it is.

For someone that doesn't have one and is in the market, it's hard to pass up. Nakiri knives rarely go on sale. But for the rest of us, that are stocked up on knife deals, we can wait. The 7 inch Wusthof is nice, just too pricey if you're not a pro. Specially when a Santoku does the same job

I have this one and couldn't be happier. Actually $10 cheaper right now at the same retailer carrying this Wusthof Nakiri. To each their own, but just throwing it out there if you're looking for a little longer Nakiri. Great performance with high end BD1N (63 Rockwell Hardness) steel.

Yep, that's a good price... it's just Wusthoff's lowest end line... it may not be full tang and has a cheaper feeling handle (ie - see some of the reviews on the Legende line). The Wusthoff Classic is definitely the better knife line, but the difference between Legende and Classic Wusthoff would be more marginal than the difference of Shun Sora and Shun Classic. I believe the blades, other than not being full tang, are essentially the same on Legende vs Classic. So yes, still a good deal at $80 (if you want a Wusthof 7" Nakiri on the cheap).

I like the fact that the Nexus uses specialty knife steel made in PA, but note this Nakiri is not made in Solingen, Germany (like the Wusthof) or Seiki City, Japan (like the Shun), but is made in China. Looks like a decent knife, but the Wusthof Classic is definitely a better overall deal at $60.

Don't disagree that it's not made in Japan or Germany. I'm a self-confessed "knife whore" and have many model's of Shun's/Miyabi's/Wusthof/Zwilling, etc.. up through their SG2 level of steel. While the fit and finish of the Nexus is not at those levels, I have no problem recommending it for a "slick deal" price with excellent functionality, especially if you don't know if you will actually use a Nakiri style knife frequently. I'm extremely impressed with the performance of the USA made BD1N steel at this price point. If you ever have a chance to try a Nexus, don't hesitate (they are often on sale for an additional 20% off during Cutlery & More sales).

This here is a knife that is made to last one's lifetime. I've set of famed classic set that is yet to be opened because I've been using just one kitchen knife, ICON class, for some 20+ years.
All that is required as a decent quality Japanese whetstone, be sharpened weekly basis.
