My floor is tile, but the rubber seems to be "soft" enough for hardwood too, as also confirmed by a few reviews on Amazon. They're definitely smooth and quiet and with a little push I can be on the other side of the room in seconds haha.

Nevermind, I think I found the screws that you mentioned, it is at bottom of the armrest piece that is attached to the sliding height adjustable portion of the armrest, isn't it?
